Tynemouth?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 21/06/2021 18:23

Budget? House size needed? Area? Jobs?

actiongirl1978 · 21/06/2021 18:27

Poole. Lots of companies with jobs, lots of housing, good schools, not far to beach/harbour for watersports. Train link to London. Ferry to France.

Blacktothepink · 21/06/2021 18:30

I love Dorset and would live there if I could afford to.

tanguero · 21/06/2021 18:47

Whitehaven....the most complete example of planned Georgian architecture in Europe - with over 170 listed buildings.

KeyboardWorriers · 21/06/2021 18:51

What type of coastal town?
I like Southsea.

DameAlyson · 21/06/2021 18:54

Kent coast - drier and gets more sunshine than other parts. Very good public transport compared to other regions. Lots to do to appeal to all tastes and interests.

Back2Black · 21/06/2021 19:00

There's a few in Dorset, but I might be a bit biased Wink

FromageRay · 21/06/2021 19:01

Best for what though? Value for money, surfing, community, second home investment, retirement...

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 21/06/2021 19:02

What do you mean by England? The coast of Cornwall has a very different feel to East Anglia

burritofan · 21/06/2021 19:42

Brighton. Rye. Eastbourne. Hastings. I have such a thing for Sussex…

SpecificPacific · 21/06/2021 20:40

To go against the grain I hated living in Poole/Dorset…the traffic is horrendous, when the weather is nice everywhere is absolutely packed, a lot of it is quite ugly (apart from the coast but there are much nicer coastal areas elsewhere) and it’s the place I have experienced the most antisocial behaviour when out and about. The tourists were disgusting…so much litter left behind all summer. Bournemouth was worse! I think it’s nicer the other side of Bournemouth. Found a lot of rural Dorset very twee. Have you considered Devon?

I don’t have dc though so schools never a consideration!

Blindleadingtheblind · 21/06/2021 20:42

St Anne's

SpecificPacific · 21/06/2021 20:43

…that should have been ‘didn’t’ have dc, I very much do have them now Grin

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 21/06/2021 20:44

If you're very rich & like the quiet life in winter, Fowey.

TriangularPrism · 21/06/2021 20:44

Morecambe

Livingintheclouds · 21/06/2021 22:56

Several on the Isle of Wight.

lockef · 22/06/2021 02:02

Aldeburgh is one of my favs

vaguelyremember · 22/06/2021 07:10

I don't want to be too specific but nice area, no / low anti social behaviour etc, not remote / isolated.

Tynemouth is beautiful and a vibrant and creative place to live. Whitburn., Cleadon and Roker would tick your boxes too. Not overloaded with tourists, great schools, excellent hospitals, culture, history etc. The North East is a hidden gem.

pantonepenny · 22/06/2021 08:24

So you want a wealthy coastal town?

Many coastal towns have high unemployment and poverty

Bagelsandbrie · 22/06/2021 08:46

Southwold but you’d need to win the lottery. Well I mean it’s hugely expensive for what you can get!

Magicstars · 22/06/2021 08:50

Hove has lovely areas & good access but £££, shoreham by sea has an artsy feel & Seaford (seaford is more retirement-y, pretty with a nice community).

GoldenHolden · 22/06/2021 15:50

Imo there's no one coastal town without some pockets of economic deprivation given its nature (high seasonality, under invested etc) and therefore antisocial behaviour.

What are you looking for? Schools? Retirement?

Bigwave · 22/06/2021 15:53

yup tynemouth is the place to be
