Show me your DIY kitchens!

I'm hoping to order our new kitchen from DIY kitchens for our extension which has just had the foundations laid! Pretty sure I want the Helmsley kitchen (possibly in sage). I know a lot of mumsnetters love diy kitchens so was wondering if anyone is willing to share a picture of theirs with the model and colour you chose. Thank you.

Loving this thread. I have kitchen envy! Thanks for posting….

@JeansAndJumper

I love your kitchen. May I ask what colour the top units are painted please?

Beckyt80 · 11/06/2021 12:08

This is our diy kitchen. It is Linwood bespoke painted in denim drift colour match.

Thanks @Bluesheep8 it’s F&B calamine

Also the the poster wanting the bifold, there is a workaround using dry assembled units as someone else mentioned. The staff at DIY kitchens were v helpful explaining it all to us. We didn’t bother in the end because we’re lazy and it would’ve meant losing the larder which I wanted more but you can definitely do it.

NewHouseNewMe · 11/06/2021 12:47

Can someone show me a pic of their larders from DIY kitchens pretty please?

Bluesheep8 · 11/06/2021 12:51

@JeansAndJumper

Oooh I hoped it might be, I'm looking at that for my bathroom so was crossing my fingers when I asked! Thank you Grin

furstivetreats · 11/06/2021 12:54

@JeansAndJumper and @mothergooseinnorthwest may I ask the dimensions of your rooms? We are weighing up whether to extend or not and struggling to envisage the space we would get with just knocking through, and what we could fit in said space!

CelestialGalaxy · 11/06/2021 13:07

@iseeyoulookingatme could I ask where your lights are from please

beggingforsleep · 11/06/2021 13:21

@Bloomingpeony your kitchen is lovely. Do you mind telling me how wide it is? Planning our kitchen and can't work out if we can fit an island. On paper we can but worried it might feel cramped. Yours looks lovely and spacious

beggingforsleep · 11/06/2021 13:23

@Bloomingpeony in fact the size of the whole space if you don't mind! It looks very similar to what we're creating but have been struggling to envisage it

mothergooseinnorthwest · 11/06/2021 13:24

This probably will help with dimensions. We pretty much followed the plan done by the Diy online planner. @furstivetreats

Iseeyoulookingatme where are your lights from??

Iseeyoulookingatme · 11/06/2021 14:03

To the posters who asked where my lights are from, my @ button isn't working so I can't tag you but I got them from made.com they took about 12 weeks to arrive though.

HyphenCobra · 11/06/2021 14:16

Thanks!!

I tentatively looked up cockbeading - not rude after all!

Bloomingpeony · 11/06/2021 14:39

@beggingforsleep thank you! I would have to look up the full dimensions, but I think it’s about 14 feet, with one worktop at 600 mm deep, the sink side at 650 mm deep, the island is 900 wide. So there is a little over a metre on each side. It’s just about the narrowest space you can manage an island in, and it is plenty spacious, but I am a big island fan. Truth be told, a peninsular might have been better for the space. But I’m happy with it.

The whole length of the room is probably about 30 ft (thinking back to the plans and allowing for a large chimney breast to be removed).

Juno231 · 11/06/2021 14:49

@polar81 I think most go for their worktops independently from diykitchens as it works out more cost effective that way.

beggingforsleep · 11/06/2021 15:08

@Bloomingpeony brilliant, thank so much. Our space is just a smidge smaller than yours I think, we're 4.2m x 8.7m but an island should be doable then and if it looks like yours I'll be over the moon.

Ha! My dh and dd (24) would not take me seriously when I tried to discuss cockbeading with them Grin
BreakingtheIce · 11/06/2021 15:26

How on earth does anyone order a new kitchen using them? I couldn’t measure things or plan it accurately.

Thank you, I didn't dare! Grin

JeansAndJumper · 11/06/2021 17:50

When I answered the cockbeading question I had to google before posting, never heard the word in my life let alone knew it was part of my kitchen Blush didn’t want to look uncool though so I just casually replied as if I’ve been talking about cockbeading my whole life. Might try to use it more in conversation Grin

@furstivetreats kitchen is 18’ x 17’. I have a gap of 3’ at one end of the island before the run of cupboards and 5’ at the other end where the doorway is. On the 3’ side it isn’t tight at all, I can have the dishwasher open and still walk past in the gap between it and the island. Actual island is about 6’ long it’s 3 units wide and 2 deep. For reference in terms of what fits, on my 17’ wall I have tall fridge & pull out larder, under counter freezer, pan drawers, range cooker, another set of pan drawers and a corner base unit. Think most of those are 60cm wide. Hope that helps.

furstivetreats · 11/06/2021 18:19

Thanks both. I think we are lacking in width sadly; your posts were very helpful!

Bloomingpeony · 11/06/2021 20:06

@beggingforsleep I can’t find an actual measurement for the room but based on the dimensions I know from the kitchen etc I think 4.2m is about right. From memory I think I want to say it’s something like 4.235 m but I’m not 100%. If you go for standard depth units then you have 2.1 m of worktop depth including a 90 cm island, and 2.1 m of walkway either side.
