Recommend a range cooker?

Does anyone have a range cooker they would recommend? My ideal would have 5 gas hobs really well spaced out and one of the two ovens at least 60cm wide. The space to fill is 110cm. (I know lots of people prefer stacked ovens now but I don't want to give up worktop space)

I have a Rangemaster and love it.

i have a stove range cooker , 6 gas rings with a removerable griddle . two ovens , a grill and a warming/slower cooker built in

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 17/05/2021 09:45

Have owned two rangemasters . Thoroughly recommend them.

SnowWouldHelp · 17/05/2021 09:59

That's good to hear as I saw very mixed reviews on another thread. What model do you have?

Sorry, that was about the rangemasters.

The Stove one sounds good, thanks. Are the ovens a good size?

Sorry, just counted 7 gas burners, the stoves are both normal sizes with various combinations
Top heat, bottom heat, fan etc
I was put off the other range cookers that just had one large oven (and one door) as I neaded different functions as I really got into my cooking

SnowWouldHelp · 17/05/2021 12:54

Yes, two would be great and I guess it wouldn't be efficient to heat a huge one on a daily basis. I'm just trying to get a sense of them as some double ovens seem to be quite small and I still need to be able to fit a big roast/turkey etc.

Also, this is probably a stupid question but if you want a worktop that's 66cm deep and have a range (standard seems to be 60cm deep), do you just add a strip along the back?

I have a falcon which is similar looking to Aga (now owned by Rangemaster I think). It has 5 burners and 2 ovens. I have the cream one, you can have either electric or gas hob combinations (I have gas hob and electric oven).

I love my Rangemaster Classic Deluxe

Tangledtresses · 17/05/2021 13:15

I've got a smeg 6 burner
Double oven, side oven and separate grill

I probably wouldn't bother with the separate grill next time as we never use it... it does have a smaller double oven but I can get a turkey in it
I use the side oven for roast pots etc at Christmas

Allthereindeersaregirls · 17/05/2021 15:51

We've got a flavell and though its budget you can't tell a all. 8 burners, a grill and 2 ovens, one is a really good size (fan) and the other is convection, perfectly fine for a roast dinner.

TheVolturi · 17/05/2021 15:54

Also have a flavel. It's the same as pp described, although it's 12 years old now and needs replacing as bits keep going bust on it. It's been great though considering it was only about £500!

SnowWouldHelp · 17/05/2021 15:54

I've never heard of those - thanks!

Rangemaster here too, really like it. Ours is a Toledo.

Macdo · 17/05/2021 16:00

We got rid of the rangemaster that was in the house when we moved in. We found it not working on day one and it cost £200 to get a repair man out to take a look. The job was difficult to control and to clean. The narrow oven on the right side fitted none of my trays in it. The door catches themselves keep failing - the one we had fixed broke again a few weeks later

I've now gone for a Smeg with a single oven cavity and an induction hob. It is a thing of beauty. No idea if it works yet as it's not wired in but I'm hopeful!

SnowWouldHelp · 18/05/2021 18:25

Urgh, it really sounds as though they don't last as well as you'd think. I wonder if we should go for two ovens under the worktop instead.

We've got a Falcon induction. It's an absolute dream to cook with. It's really solid, the grill is like nothing I've ever used before. We went in to the store looking at a Stoves range and came out with this as it was so much better quality.

I have a Lacanche - it’s over a decade and still like new.

It’s an investment piece and I love it, i do dabble in professional cooking so really worth it 🙂

another365togo · 18/05/2021 18:36

I've got a Rangemaster Professional and absolutely love it. Ours is 8 years old and gets a lot of use but still going strong. Both ovens are big, the left hand one has a roasting tray etc built in. Also love the auto cook feature that turns the oven on and off, and rapid heat to warm the oven up quickly. I'm sure the features have advanced since we bought ours Grin

SnowWouldHelp · 18/05/2021 18:44

The lancanche colors are lush! No professional cooking here to justify it unfortunately Grin

I have a SMEG 150cm range - their top model.

I've had to fix this thing more times than I can count. The build quality is not great. But looks great.

Firkinhavinalaugh · 18/05/2021 20:37

@SnowWouldHelp I sometimes get sucked in to looking at them....

One day I’ll get the rotisserie 🤪 one day!

Newnormal99 · 18/05/2021 20:56

I have a 100cm Rangemaster. Pro deluxe or something maybe.

I like it but I do think there right hand oven is not the greatest build quality. Left hand one seems fine!

Anything 100cm or under I would look for a 60/40 (ish) split not 50/50. I found those you ended up with two small ovens. Although my right hand oven is narrower it's very tall and so it's great for all the side dishes you have with a roast for example - it has quite a few shelves in.
