HOW MANY PEOPLE VIEWED YOUR HOUSE...before you got an offer?

just curious. our place went on the market a week ago. the market is v slow at the moment, by all accounts.

we have a second viewing todayy (same people came at the weekend) and 2 more lots of people today/ tomorow.

i am making myself scarce so as not to be traumatised by people nosing round my home.

am already finding the tidying up before they get here rather tedious.

houses in this area sell fast, largely due to proximity to good schools. but we are on a busy road, so that could present a problem.

did you have to wait long for a buyer? am woried we may not get onyone till after xmas.

i think the market is very slow at the mo. i personally would not build you hopes up before xmas

noddyholder · 15/11/2007 14:36

I think it just depends on who you get really. We sold to the first person who viewed ours and it was deemed quite hatrd to sell but they just loved it!If it is priced ok it will sell xx

TellusMater · 15/11/2007 14:38

Last time we had 20 viewings in 12 days and two offers.

Time before we had one viewing in a month - and one offer!

noonar · 15/11/2007 14:42

oh gawd.. it is hit and miss, isnt it?

its reassuring to have our first 'viewers' wanting a second look. and i guess 3 viewings in a week at this time of year isnt bad.

will let you know how we get on!

We put ours on in February, had about 12 people round and 2 offers. Took until June to complete.

My parents (in Scotland) put their house on the market last week and have had 2 viewers, 1 came back for a second look but have their own property to sell. No other viewers as yet and it is in an area where houses rarely come on the market.

aDadGoneMad · 15/11/2007 14:44

20 to 25. Over about 6 or 7 weeks.

BettySpaghetti · 15/11/2007 14:46

If houses in your area sell fast, like you mentioned in your OP, you might find it will quick and painless. I suppose the only thing is, with Christmas round the corner, people might be waiting until the new year??

Our last house was in a popular area and we had 3 viewings in the first week - all 3 put in offers. In the end the first people to see it bought it. This was about 6 yrs ago though.

noonar · 15/11/2007 14:50

i think that ultimately we'll have no problem selling. it just xmas, as you say.

dh is starting to fret about bridging finance, so hope we get a buyer son, though.

30 ish over about 7/8 months(first buyer after 6 months ,then fell through 2 months later, next offer 6 weeks on ). Have you decided to go more rural after all ?

LIZS · 15/11/2007 17:30

ah see from other thread you're staying urban

seb1 · 15/11/2007 17:42

Two families and the second family bought it

Dottydot · 15/11/2007 17:50

30 over 11 months...

Tinker · 15/11/2007 21:49

3 in a week, all came back twice. But market is very different now and difficult time of year. Pain in the arse keeping it tidy though, I do sympathise

noonar · 16/11/2007 11:53

well, last night's couple liked it and are coming back.this morning i had another couple- 2 fairly famous actors and their 2 dcs, come to look around my humble abode.

waiting for feedback...

noonar · 16/11/2007 12:01

we sold our house last year, it was a 3 bed semi in a village in west lancashire, was on the market for 3 months before we had an offer, and we had 11 viewers in total.

house went up for sale at begining of december, got offer at end of feb

ConnorTraceptive · 16/11/2007 12:39

we had 3 viewings (one was a nosey neighbour [grr]) in one day and got an offer BUT it was after xmas, I think you'll find things very slow into the run up to christmas.

noonar · 16/11/2007 12:49

just had an offer! but 15k below asking price.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 16/11/2007 13:39

well done!15k doesn't sound horrendous

lizziemun · 16/11/2007 13:52

We had 2 lots of veiwing but only one of them were serious buyers.

We our house on the market mid December 2001 and were in our new house 22nd feb 2002.

The first veiwing was a complete waste of time they were supposed to be downsizing but where complaining that they wouldn't get 12 seater dinning table in. The house was a small 2 bedroom terrace house.

Fimbo · 16/11/2007 14:03

Presumably it wasn't the famous couple who put in the offer?

noonar · 16/11/2007 15:58

thanks noddy

no it wasnt the famous couple! kinda got the impression they were just checking out what they could get for their money.

not a bad offer, but will try to 'up' it a bit.

OP posts:
dooley1 · 19/11/2007 09:57

hope the offer is going up for you
Ours was on for a week - we had 3 offers
But things round here go very quicky and the price was competitive

SleepInHeavenlyPlease · 07/12/2007 15:30

our was on for 2.5 months, about 10 viewings, just accepted an offer thoough - whew.

NomDePlume · 07/12/2007 15:32

I'm sure I've heard/read that statisically it takes 11 viewings for a house to sell, on average.
