Because we're nearly at the end of the other thread and still inflicting this torture on ourselves...!

OP posts:
cornishmylovely · 05/05/2021 17:54

Still not exchanged, its really getting me down now. Have been told it will be tomorrow with completion on Tuesday. Apparently the buyers didn't get the paperwork back to solicitors in time today!! DH has told his new boss about the delay who is ok but it is very, very annoying. Good luck to everyone else on here.

Newhousehope · 05/05/2021 18:18

Just accepted an offer on our house.
All getting a bit real Shock

Still nothing to buy here though 🙄

Good luck and well done to those who have made progress this week! How annoying @cornishmylovely - fingers crossed for tomorrow!

BlueCherryBlossom · 05/05/2021 18:21

No news on our exchange here today either 🙄

SpnBaby1967 · 05/05/2021 18:30

How much packing have you dont if you're still waiting to exchange?

We've done a few bits like clearing all the junk out the attic and garage and packed a few bits that was in a cupboard that wont be used (like clothes I'm waiting for DD to grow into).

DH wants to pack much more, but I'm nervous to do it incase everything goes tits up and I'm getting annoyed living around the few boxes we have packed.

tryingtocatchthewind · 05/05/2021 19:02

We’ve cleared loads of stuff to charity and the tip. I’ve also stashed the rarely used stuff at my parents like Xmas decorations. I’ve packed up some books and things and put them in the garage. I’m stopping now though

savemefromsearches · 05/05/2021 21:00

Chin up @cornishmylovely - you're nearly there.

@SpnBaby1967 no packing at all for me. I've been looking into quotes from moving companies (£2k 😭 not sure if that's about right), but can't face making a crack at it myself.

Our buyer is just an absolute moron. Comes to light today that he has now decided to purchase via a company. Thankfully the mortgage company are aware, but further documentation will be needed under the terms of our lease.

I'm hyper stressed about the bank's valuation and I don't even know why. 😕

arthurdaly · 05/05/2021 21:19

We actually exchanged today 🎉🎉🎊🎊 after thinking it was never going to happen following a call from EA to say sellers solicitor was still querying stuff with the lender I got a call from our solicitor about 4pm confirming exchange.
Am still in a bit of a state of shock!

@cornishmylovely you're so nearly there, tomorrow will be the day! I have a good feeling about it.

cornishmylovely · 05/05/2021 21:39

@arthurdaly congratulations, I am so very pleased for you and it gives me hope for tomorrow.

mummabubs · 05/05/2021 22:37

Congrats @arthurdaly!

@cornishmylovely I will continue to cross everything for you for tomorrow. We'd definitely almost given up hope after so many failed attempts so I completely understand it all just feeling like non-exchange groundhog day. You've definitely still got time to complete next Tuesday, just need people to get their butts into gear for this final push. X

TheLette · 05/05/2021 23:27

We completed a 2 house chain in April, got our survey done last week and had to pay for it today. Buyers survey booked in for very soon. My partner got news of redundancy though so now screwed unless he gets another job sharpish. Feels like our dream house will not be ours Sad

savemefromsearches · 06/05/2021 00:51

Congratulations @arthurdaly!

@TheLette 😕 really sorry to hear that.

cornishmylovely · 06/05/2021 06:04

So sorry @TheLette I hope things work out for you.

cornishmylovely · 06/05/2021 06:40

Meant to say thank you @mummabubs for your support. Keeping everything crossed for today. I hardly slept last night Confused

Didicat · 06/05/2021 07:21

Fingers crossed today’s the day @cornishmylovely

@TheLette are they in the consultation period or already been told he’s being made redundant? We had a race to complete with our first house as we knew the company was making redundancies but not in the particular area my husband worked. Have you maxed out your affordability or could you do it on a single salary?

Newhousehope · 06/05/2021 08:21

Oh congratulations @arthurdaly 🥳

Fingers crossed still @cornishmylovely

TheLette · 06/05/2021 08:59

@Didicat they have sent him a settlement agreement so yes it's pretty certain. Can't do it on a single salary so we are in a race to get him another job. Optimistically thought we could complete by June but I guess we are early days in the process anyway so it might be possible to get another job whilst continuing with things.

MedusasBadHairDay · 06/05/2021 09:07

I feel like I'm in limbo at the moment. Offer accepted, solicitors appointed, mortgage application submitted, now we just wait. I think I expected to have more to do, but it's all out of my hands and I feel a bit helpless.

We're starting to do some sorting and packing, but without knowing how long all this is going to take its a bit tricky.

FelicityElectricity · 06/05/2021 09:11

Sending good luck to you for today @cornishmylovely we are still looking and not finding anything yet. Our buyer asked for an update yesterday which was fine as it's been three weeks since we accepted their offer. I just wish we had some good news to give them.

Newhousehope · 06/05/2021 10:53

We’re in your boat @FelicityElectricity - there is literally nothing out there!
Didicat · 06/05/2021 11:06

The market does seem to have slowed with properties coming to market. One near me that sold for £575k last September is back on (no noticeable work done at £650k!!!! It’s insane 13% increase in 7 months

We really noticed this too @Didicat - we house hunted last summer when the market first boomed, then had a 5 month break before starting again early this year and found we were completely priced out of some areas that were previously affordable and noticed houses being relisted for more as you said! It's all mad. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Newhousehope · 06/05/2021 12:29

It’s ridiculous isn’t it!!

FelicityElectricity · 06/05/2021 12:35

Right I'm at the stage where I'm thinking about dropping leaflets through doors! Has anyone tried this before? What kind of things do you include in your begging letter? 😄

Didicat · 06/05/2021 12:44

@mummabubs sold as in you can see the price on Rightmove sold prices for sept 2020..... it is madness and greed surely.

The dream house we didn’t buy due to structural reasons has been bought by another family who’s daughter is in my sons class. Don’t know why but makes me feel weird about the whole thing!

Panda368 · 06/05/2021 14:19

Still no word from our buyers about what their homebuyers survey has thrown up.

We are choosing to think no news is good news as it has now been over a week since the survey so they must have the report by now.

We have heard our mortgage has been approved and our solicitor has had all her searches back. I'm not sure what the next stage is after this is it enquiries?

When do you get to start talking about exchange/completion dates? It all seems to be moving quite quickly at the moment but I feel like things might grind to a halt soon
