Would you buy this house?

I'd love honest feedback please! Would you buy this house? If not, why not? www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-88586941.html

I wouldn't buy it because it's been aggressively 'modernised' in a way which isn't in keeping with the age of the house and isn't to my taste at all, especially the kitchen and those horrible fitted wardrobes.

Also, if you have kids, the low wall in the garden looks like an accident waiting to happen. But is the garden terrace shown all there is? The audio tour specifically mentions a 'sizeable' garden, so if you haven't seen it in person, ask the estate agent if there's another bit as well.

Grenlei · 03/02/2021 17:54

@Flickoffboris

I'd worry about why it was bought only last year, if assume something is up and would do a lot of digging. Pleasant enough looking house though.
This - exactly.

It's strange because if you compare the Rightmove sale photos from the previous 2020 sale, to the current sale photos, most of the furniture is the same. Even clocks, pictures etc.

It seems odd it is being sold again in just a few months. I'd want to know why.

No because it’s semi detached

MythSpentYouth · 03/02/2021 17:57

There looks to be loads of space at the front of the house - could that not be made into a lawn / borders? It would be more attractive, anyway - and put a hedge across the front and a bit of hedging to separate it from a drive?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 03/02/2021 17:57

I was coming to say no because it’s a semi. It’s a pretty enough house / but I’d prefer a detached if I was living on a town/country.

MythSpentYouth · 03/02/2021 17:59

Is it semi-detatched? The floor plan seems to fit the whole of the front as shown in the photo.
Confused

Cactusowl · 03/02/2021 18:03

The small garden with lack of privacy would put me off. The house it’s self is nice and spacious.

MollyButton · 03/02/2021 18:13

No because of the garden especially as a family home - unless the price is reasonable enough to convert it back to a proper one. (But I'd still be concerned about Japanese knotweed etc.)

krustykittens · 03/02/2021 18:20

The lack of garden would really put me off but we have dogs that like to have a run about. My children lived in the garden when they were younger and still like to sit out in it now that they are teenagers so space for kids to play and a bit of privacy would be important.

GameSetMatch · 03/02/2021 18:22

It’s fine, not my taste but absolutely fine, I wouldn’t change anything to be honest all looks ok. I don’t think anything you do will make it anymore sellable.

TierFourTears · 03/02/2021 18:28

Based on the interior photos, I'd go look at it. BUT, I dont get the semi bit. Is there a second house at right angles to that one, off the back of the kitchen? That then looks out onto your very small patio garden? Do they have right of way over the current gravel area? Because I'd be looking to convert some of that space into garden.

Cam2020 · 03/02/2021 18:31

Lovely house! Wrong location for me, but it's lovely. The small garden would be off-putting for me, but I have a young child. It might not be such a concern for people, with older children.

Dogchatname · 03/02/2021 18:36

£270,000? That's an amazing amount of house for the money. it's lovely too, light and spacious. Garden can be turfed.

notalwaysalondoner · 03/02/2021 18:48

I like:
Kitchen
Good space and size
Look of outside of house

I dislike:
Lack of grass
Main bathroom looks dated
Little kerb appeal but that could be fixed by more grass/plants

The bedrooms could also be dressed a bit nicer if you’re really struggling to sell.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/02/2021 18:56

I hate gardening so the small garden wouldn’t put me off

Internally the proportions look good. I don’t like the look of it externally

Bourbonbiccy · 03/02/2021 18:58

The house itself is nice and looks like a nice size for the money, but it just doesn't have enough outdoor space in the back.

So we probably wouldn't buy it.

ShirleyPhallus · 03/02/2021 18:58

It’s fine, same question about the sale from 2020

Also looks like the bathroom and kitchen are significantly better than the rest of the house and outside. Needs some TLC so a good blank canvas for someone

PickAChew · 03/02/2021 19:00

Of the location was right, it's exactly what I'd be looking for in a house but I hate the kitchen.

NovemberR · 03/02/2021 19:03

I like it - but I think it's too expensive and it's a semi. That would put me off.

MythSpentYouth · 03/02/2021 19:09

Why is there a Japanese Knotweed concern?

FuglyHouse · 03/02/2021 19:10

Absolutely not! It's a semi because the adjoining house is the bit at 90 degrees to the house shown. It's not obvious because the neighbours house is behind the house in the first picture, but you can see it in the last picture, overlooking the yard. That means that the backyard is really tiny and completely overlooked by the neighbours.

Lulu1919 · 03/02/2021 19:15

I'd make small first floor bedroom into a bathroom otherwise the only loo is in an en-suite
Seems cheap to me but I know nothing about prices up there !!!

Ideasplease322 · 03/02/2021 19:15

Nice big rooms, but no grass and tiny garden.

I love outdoor space, so this wouldn’t work for me

emmathedilemma · 03/02/2021 19:16

No, the outside space would be a deal breaker for me.

Lulu1919 · 03/02/2021 19:18

Sorry put my specs on I see it already is a bathroom !!!!
