This house has gone viral. It's in Leeds

I'm not sure I could buy a house with the previous owner in the back garden..

Oh my god! Never ever ever
I just couldn't deal with that

superram · 19/01/2021 19:04

It would be a bit weird but the fact that the house is crying out for an extension is an issue-can you exhume people for this?

Flyingwiththecanons · 19/01/2021 19:08

I couldn't deal!

@superram haha! Can you imagine!

Actually that wouldn't really bother me. Well, unless he had committed dreadful crimes.

My dad's ashes were scattered in the garden, not really the same as a body, but it was his wish. I'd just assume that the deceased really loved the house.

CausingChaos2 · 19/01/2021 19:14

Already a long thread on this

Can you move the body if you wanted to extend?

Flyingwiththecanons · 19/01/2021 19:22

@CausingChaos2 ah sorry

Middleton is rough as fuck I used to live there

mummyofthreemunchkins · 19/01/2021 19:23

I'm sure he would have been cremated, my nan and grandad are both buried in their garden. My Auntie and Uncle now live in the house, but I'm sure there was something to say that of you wish to be buried in the garden you need to be cremated. Although it is going back quite a few years so it may have changed since then!
I would be ok with a family member there, not sure how I would feel if I was moving into a stranger's home though!

CausingChaos2 · 19/01/2021 19:30

No need to apologise Smile just thought I’d link the other thread.

lockeddownandcrazy · 19/01/2021 19:32

I think you can bury people in the garden, so it may be an actual body. I would be fine with it myself but then I don't see dead people/animals as a worry.

Flyingwiththecanons · 19/01/2021 19:32

@wizzbangfizz I went to Asda there once and had my car robbed Grin

Is that dirt patch really the grave? Right there in the middle of the garden. Would have expected it to be down the bottom if it had to be in the garden at all.

TableFlowerss · 19/01/2021 19:54

Omg, I thought you only meant the photo on the estate agents had the pic of them in the garden sunbathing 😳

I didn’t even think that was allowed tbh. I don’t think it’s nice for the neighbours either.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 19/01/2021 19:56

Wouldn’t bother me

Exactly what I thought.

Bit of a shocker upon reading more

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 19/01/2021 20:03

Well I suppose it saves on having to add bone meal to enrich the flower beds. Hmm

Beamur · 19/01/2021 20:05

It's perfectly legal to bury a body in your garden.
I wonder how long you have to abide by a covenant like that?

You can say that again - I had to ready it twice like Shock

Bloody hell they could've at least buried him down the end of the garden, not just outside the bloody back window!

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/01/2021 20:13

It’s already been removed from the market. So sold.

ajandjjmum · 19/01/2021 20:20

When we were buying our house (25 years ago!), the vendor told us that the couple who had built it were scattered at the bottom of the garden. Didn't bother us - infact we thought it was quite nice that they loved it so much.

Funnily enough, the couple that built it lived here for years, but then a couple of families only stayed for a few years each, before we moved in. The night we moved in, DH and I were eating our fish and chips - the kids had been farmed out as we had boxes to unpack - no noise at all, and we both heard a distinct 'sigh of relief' in the hall. Of course, there would be loads of explanations, but we always think it was 'Reg' knowing that the house was again being occupied by a family who would love it - and hang around!

I would not be happy with a grave in the garden though!
