Do you know a lovely pink colour for a young girl's bedroom?

It is a small bedroom. I have tried about 4 tester pots including Dulux Spring rose (which my oldest said makes her eyes hurt). Anyway, any recommendations and/or pics please?

We have F&B Setting Plaster which looks very soft pink in some lights, has a blue tinge in other lights and looks like setting plaster in clear bright light.

hootatoot lovely and subtle, thank you

@PixellatedPixie do you have any pics? This is colour I was seriously considering.

So many good suggestions on this thread - need to make a decision by tomrw. Eeek!

I have just painted inside my porch and about to paint my downstairs loo with Dulux Blush Pink. It's a really lovely soft pink. I'm teaming it with navy blue in my loo and it works really well.

We had large rooms so we colour matched F&B in Layland for the base coat and then just did the top coat in F&B for the lovely chalky light reflecting finish. We matched blackened and it was spot on for the colour but lacked the distinctive finish.

Johnstone’s ballet slipper is a lovely dusky pink

StrippedFridge · 19/11/2020 01:36

I got Dulux colour matched to a Little Greene paint colour about 5 years ago. They did me a test pot first. The finish wasn't exactly the same but the colour was a great match and tbh I preferred the Dulux finish.

Try putting DD's assorted crap she loves next to the paint. Not much point choosing the perfect paint colour if it clashes horribly with the child's loved things like party bag tat, random stones, cuddly toys, that very special leaf, Octonauts duvet, etc.

When my DD was in her pink phase we had pale blue walls. It set the pink off nicely.

We've used Johnstone's Rosebud paint before. It is a nice, warm pink.

Wilko Raspberry Meld is a lovely dusky pink, not at all Barbie.

I can't recommend a pink, someone has already mentioned both Calamine and Pink ground. oh well.

I think you might benefit from buying a tester pot of Farrow and Ball Estate emulsion and the equivalent cheaper emulsion in a very similar colour. The F&B is dead flat matt, it tends to look powdery, fine and slightly papery (if that makes sense) it has a lovely finish. Most cheaper paints, even if you try to get an F&B matched colour look thicker, have more than 2% sheen, and don't have the fine powdery finish or such good coverage.

I like F&B because of the powdery finish, but you might not like it. Beware of the F&B modern emulsion, apart from the fab colours you may as well buy crown if you want a slight sheen and a scrubbable surface.

MiniTheMinx · 19/11/2020 15:15

I think it was the crown easy clean paint that MN tested and reviewed. They have a dusky pink not dark called creme de la Rose.

theonlywayisup33 · 20/11/2020 00:31

Ok so I really love F&B Middleton pink. It costs an arm and a leg. I think the modern emulsion is the way forward but...
Does colour matching F&B work?

Or do I suck up the cost?

@MiniTheMinx I want to try that Crown Creme de la Rose but have to try and get to a Homebase store by tomorrow if possible.
Why do you think the modern emulsion is not such a good idea? I need something scrubbable as dd2 is a mucky pup.

Don't get the b and q mix paint it's shit.

Dulux trade shops are awesome.

How old is child? Old enough to make a sensible choice?

We have a room in, I think it's dusky pink. I like bold colours. It might age with her a bit better as well.

This sort of thing

Dulux Faded Blossom, absolutely gorgeous soft pink.

Soulstirring · 20/11/2020 04:06

Another vote for little greene Dorchester pink

mamaof2girls · 20/11/2020 04:46

Just done my play room in the pink bangle but seen you didn't like it! X

We went for dulux satin bow. Very pleased with it. It was one we had to have mixed.

MiniTheMinx · 20/11/2020 07:05

theonlywayisup33 the F&B modern emulsion is good, but its not better than its crown equivalent, its just more expensive.
I've used the Crown Easy clean on two walls in the kitchen. It has brilliant coverage, and it looks very matt.

I only think the price of F&B estate emulsion is justified by the super matt powdery finish.

I covered a red wall (new house, its horrendous😫) with the crown, took one coat of Antique white and the red was virtually gone! only needed two coats. Its very rich, isn't thick or sticky but is very highly pigmented.

Good luck, hope your girl is happy with her new room.

Enterthedragons · 20/11/2020 07:11

Little Greene - Chemise

Sirrah · 20/11/2020 15:30

This is the Wilko Raspberry Meld (excuse the mess, we're still decorating!) It comes in a durable finish, and is very good value. I wouldn't waste my money on fancy paint for a child's room, they'll want a different colour in a few years.
