...it is a flat and it hasn't got a garden. DH is undecided, he really likes the property though. What to do, what to do????

We could never afford a property of the scale that the flat is if it were a detached house or even a semi....It is my perfect living space with three bedrooms on a seperate floor so the kids could have theor own space....it is huge....it has loads of character, two ensuites, loads of living area....but no garden. It is opposite a small beach with a promenade that leads to a park with a park round another corner though.

I LOVE it but DH says where will we have a BBQ (we have only ever had 2 BBQs in 10 years!!!!),

Arrggghhhhhhhh!

Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The outdoor space is just across the road. Sounds lovely. Besides.... kids kinda outgrow gardens and go off out and about anyway!

oooggs · 06/10/2007 22:36

hi wcl - go for it sounds fab - want a link

Screaminglips · 06/10/2007 22:38

i live in a 4 bed Victorian house....we both fell in love with it and we still do. We bought it over 4 yrs ago but now ive had my DD who is 3...im longing for a garden as got a yard which is a good size.....BUT i do wish we can pick this house up and move it to somewhere. Everyone loves this house as it got a lovely happy feeling to it.

As the flat is opposite the beach and around the corner from the park - eg like ours..you gotta make the effort to take the kids out..its nice for the kids to able to "play outside". (we live right on the busy main road too).

PeachesMcScream · 06/10/2007 22:39

Wow, it sounds fantastic. I think I would sacrifice a garden to have a beach across the road. As Mars says, kids outgrow gardens anyway. Would YOU miss a garden?

omeN666 · 06/10/2007 22:40

how old are dc? Mine are all young so a garden is fab for us as it means they can play out there while I do housework etc, where going to park/beach I would physically have to take them. Is it going to be too hot in the summer where you will be longing to be sitting in garden?

GreatHauntieWurly · 06/10/2007 22:42

a garden is just more work, you have to mow the lawn, plant flowers, water it, etc etc. Save yourself a job and go with the flat

PeachesMcScream · 06/10/2007 22:44

How big are the windows? Sounds a daft question but I had a flat once with windows that were almost floor to ceiling in the bay of the living room. So in summer you could open them right up and enjoy the sun without leaving your arm chair.

Mind you, probably a Health and safety risk with toddlers...

MarsLady · 06/10/2007 22:47

What a lovely thought Peaches!

expatinscotland · 06/10/2007 22:51

Having moved from a place with no garden, I hope NEVER again to live in another flat with no garden.

No, NO, NO.

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 22:53

It comes complete with birthing ball so you can have another WCL

Looks lovely!

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 22:56

Hard to explain but the bedrooms downstairs have french doors, there is a very small comunal front garden. It does ahve big windows and it wouldn't get hot in the summer,

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 22:56

Hahaha! Yes, and enough rooms for two more but don't tell DH!

expatinscotland · 06/10/2007 22:56

It could be in fucking Shangri-La but with no garden, there's NO WAY I'd live in it with small children.

Been there, bought the tshirt.

It sucks not being able to just go outside and not have to lock everything up or supervise every move.

Nope.

'Fraid I don't see it.

omeN666 · 06/10/2007 22:58

must admit it does look gorgeous..but I would still rather have a garden but as I say my lot are still young enough to play in it.

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 23:00

You feel very strongly about it Expat!

But it has 5 bedrooms and a study and the kids could use the downstairs hall as a playroom and, and, and.....

Looks lurverly. And Clevedon! I'll go down to our seafront in Penarth and wave to you across the water

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 23:01

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 23:01

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 23:03

I do love it! It just feels right but will we hate it??? I have never had a big garden and in our rented house we did have a garden but I never went in it ever (pre-children). Am I MAD?

MarsLady · 06/10/2007 23:04

WCL...........buy the fecking thing!

PeachesMcScream · 06/10/2007 23:04

OOoh, I was in Porthcawl last week. Walked along Rest Bay to Pink Bay at the end. Truly wonderful. Place was almost deserted and tide was further out than we've ever seen it

Tinker · 06/10/2007 23:05

How old are your kids?

WestCountryLass · 06/10/2007 23:05

It does need doing up as well, it does look OK in the pictures but the basement needs tanking our and damp proofing and there is a lot of wood chip. I am thinking though we would never need to move so could take our time about doing it up. We could live in the upstairs floor until we have the basement level done. DS has asthma so would not risk him in damp room.
