Check water on dishwasher

I’ve seen a few posts on this and I’ve had a go at some of the suggestions but there’s still some standing water at the bottom and the check water light is flashing, as is the rinse aid light even though I’ve topped it up.

I’ll pop up some photos - hope someone can give me some pointers

I baled out most of the water so there's only a little bit left.

When this happened to me there was a bit of plastic stuck in the filter impeller. Had to remove standing water, remove filter, remove impeller cover and fish the plastic out

Nilbog · 23/08/2020 18:01

These are the pipes under the sink.

Those waste pipes should have a curve up at the level of the worktop too.

Thanks @dementedpixie

I removed the bit I think you’re referring to and poked my finger in but I couldn’t feel any obstruction.

OP posts:

does the impeller turn freely?

Nilbog · 23/08/2020 18:10

I thought the pipes might be a problem. I did give the dishwasher pipe a wiggle from the dishwasher end.

Is it the grey one on The left with the ridges that need to be higher?

Is the impeller the whirly thing? If so, yes.

I forgot to tag you before @dementedpixie. Do you have any further tips for me?

Maybe ask @PigletJohn, think they know more about these things than me

Rollercoaster1920 · 24/08/2020 15:27

Mine had the check water light come on just before it flooded the kitchen. So beware! May be a blockage in the waste out pipe.

Thanks, @dementedpixie for all your help so far.

@PigletJohn if you see my cry for help, these are the things I’ve tried so far:

Tilted the dishwasher 45 degrees one side and then the other
Check the filters in the hoses that connect to the water pipes under the sink - all clear
Filled my sink with water and blue food colouring then emptied it. No blue water (nor peas) appeared in my dishwasher

Is there anything else I can try before I have to buy in help?

Thanks for the warning @Rollercoaster1920.

A flooded kitchen would be the icing on my Covid-19 cake.

P.J will help out later, he's probably driving back from Hull as we speak Wink

BrianPotter · 24/08/2020 15:44

p.s I was just about to get rid of my dishwasher as it wouldn't work properly, it would get stuck mid cycle and 'pump' but not work, it seems the stop cock tap thingy was only half on.

The gas engineer that serviced the boiler, noticed water pressure was low, he turned the tap thingy, and when he left I thought I would try the dishwasher one last time, before getting rid of it.

Its worked perfectly every day since.

Oblomov20 · 24/08/2020 15:47

I have tried same op. I've tried lots of things. I don't know what to do next.

I have this exact problem! Called out the engineer, but it's happening again, intermittently. Maybe PJ can help me too!

PigletJohn · 24/08/2020 17:13

I don't know what "check water" means.

does it mean won't fill?

Or won't empty?

PigletJohn · 24/08/2020 17:26

@Nilbog

I see you said "I baled out most of the water so there's only a little bit left."

How deep was the water when you started? If it was a couple of inches deep in the bottom of the cabinet, you have a drainage problem (not surprising with the way your waste hose has been done)

If there was just a bit of water in the sump where the filter is, probably not that.

Hi @PigletJohn. I would say a couple of inches of water is about right, possible slightly more.

Check water seems to mean it won’t drain fully.

I see you mentioned the positioning of the waste hose. Can I do something with the current set up or does a hole need to be cut of of the side of the cupboard?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 24/08/2020 17:56

The waste pipe needs to have a high loop as shown

Check water on dishwasher
dementedpixie · 24/08/2020 17:58

might be easier to do if the bits the waste hoses are attached to were pointing upwards rather than downwards as yours are
