Which pans/pots do you recommend for an induction hob?

I know stainless steel and cast iron are the ideal types to use, but can anybody recommend the best ones they've purchased please, and from where (ideally dishwasher safe)?

If you bought a set, was it worth doing so, or would you have been better off buying a few individual ones?

Ikea 365. Years and years old and still like new

suze28 · 15/08/2020 22:10

I use Dunelm own brand pans which are reasonably priced and have lasted.

FloreanFortescue · 15/08/2020 22:18

I went straight into Le Creuset and spent a ridiculous amount of money on new pans.

I have no regrets! They are fab.

Only thing is, I've just moved house and back to a gas hob for how. I'm so scared of ruining the pans that I packed them away and borrowed some ancient ones from my mum. Sad

I have an Oxo brand frying pan from Lakeland which works a treat on my induction hob, I love it. We do have other frying pans which work on the induction but I refuse to use them Grin

Crabbo · 15/08/2020 22:21

Ikea 365. Plus a cast iron frying pan.

BIWI · 15/08/2020 22:23

I bought several of these They were cheap enough as a 'trial' set, but actually they're pretty good.

JoJoSM2 · 15/08/2020 22:24

We upgraded to Le Creuset a few months ago. Amazing on induction, everything cooks faster, doesn’t burn and uses less energy on lower setting. They’re basically magic Grin

KittyMcKitty · 15/08/2020 22:26

The Le Crueset stainless steel pans - much better then anything else.

NannyR · 15/08/2020 22:26

Another vote for Ikea 365. I didn't buy a set, just two or three stainless steel saucepans and I bought a circulon infinite frying pan and saute pan, they were a bit more expensive but it was worth splashing out on decent non stick.

sahbear · 15/08/2020 22:28

We bought a set of 3 from Procook plus a frying pan. We are really pleased with them.

andadietcoke · 15/08/2020 22:35

Le Creuset cast iron in satin black. Bloody heavy but they're 8 years old and look brand new. We bought via a combination of the outlet at Cheshire Oaks, Amazon offers and internet sales. Definitely much more expensive now, I think we spent about £700 on everything and it looks like now that would buy about 5 items (we have 3 x pans, griddle, 3 x casseroles, frying pans, baking dishes, wok etc).

dottyaboutstripes · 15/08/2020 22:41

Le Creuset here too. They are amazing.

Lougle · 15/08/2020 23:02

We bought Tefal Ingenio (they have removable handles and stack). They're still perfect after a few years.

Smallgoon · 15/08/2020 23:46

Thank you!

Seems as though it's Ikea for the win - not sure my purse will stretch to Le Creuset levels...

For those recommending non-stick frying pans; are these dishwasher safe?

We've always used me crueset. Worth the extra £ imo

GrumpyHoonMain · 16/08/2020 00:39

John Lewis’ stainless steel and cast iron pans is what I have been recommended. I do a lot of Indian cooking and apparently while Le Creuset pans get ruined by heavy duty spice tempering John Lewis’ pans don’t. Considering how much cheaper they are I thought I’d give them a go.

bouncydog · 16/08/2020 14:17

We had some with our Neff induction hob and they are fantastic. I've found them on Amazon for a lot less than Neff were charging (ours were all thrown in).

For sth less pricey than ale Creuset, my sister has Tefal ones and they’re decent. Not ale Creuset by any stretch but better than any Ikea, Brabantia or anything else I’ve ever had. Not sure about being dishwasher safe but it should tell you in the product description.

@FloreanFortescue what do you prefer? Gas or induction?

Sorry to derail OP!

Induction wins every single time. We switched because it was clean and I was so sick of the hob but we had it about a year before we moved and it is so much faster. I can bring a pan to the boil in the same time as the kettle. I'm waiting ages for the gas. It goes off when you remove a pan so far safer and no waste like with gas. It's just brill.

Thecazelets · 16/08/2020 17:40

We have a mixture of Le Creuset (wedding presents over 20 years ago) and the Sainsbury's fake versions. Both are fine, the Sbos ones obviously considerably cheaper.

You can get mixed ones - we have an induction hob with one gas burner for when we’re cooking Chinese food. It’s great

picklemewalnuts · 16/08/2020 18:06

What do you rate for a frying pan? I can't get one that keeps any kind of non stick. I'm on the enamel coated ones at the moment. Fabulous for a few months, then suddenly no good.

Thanks both Thanks
