Just DP and I at the moment but want room for potential DC and guests and we both WFH FT so need a study/studies.

Occasional travel into London so needs to be connected.

I love the coast, he loves the countryside!

Have a very open mind so hit me!

One of the villages/towns between Worthing and Southampton. Maybe Arundel if you go further inland.

waltzingparrot · 04/08/2020 17:24

Suffolk/Essex coast, quickish train line into London.

Hampshire/West Sussex.

I live in Hampshire, lots of beaches and seaside villages/towns. Lovely countryside, Meon valley, South Downs national park, country parks, country pubs. Ferries to the Isle of Wight or the continent, plus an airport! It's a very well connected county.

waltzingparrot · 04/08/2020 17:28

Oh, where do you live now OP? You may already live in HampshireGrin

Skyliner001 · 04/08/2020 17:36

Northumberland. Stunning and you have the east coast main line.

Freeamigos · 04/08/2020 17:43

Folkestone. Best move we ever made was to here. So well connected for London and Europe. Beautiful beaches and stunning countryside, gorgeous architecture and a real thriving local community so very easy to make friends. Always something going on and a real artsy, vibrant feel. Was named best U.K. staycation last week by Simon Calder and it’s easy to see why. We love it!

Bunnybigears · 04/08/2020 17:45

If its only occasional travel to London I would go for the Northumberland coast. 3hrs to Kings Cross from Newcastle and you will get a lot for your money.

LioneIRichTea · 04/08/2020 17:46

Hampshire! But I’m biased. Has close links to country and coast. I spend mist of my time in the New Forest or along the coast. Dorset too but then certain bits are really pricey!

Norfolk/Suffolk if only occasional travel into London. Great beaches, lots of countryside, great value for money on houses not great if you want to hill walk.

Puddlelane123 · 04/08/2020 18:01

Northumberland - you would never regret it.

MiniMaxi · 04/08/2020 18:06

Whitstable! Admittedly more coast focused but must be some lovely countryside round there too.

MiniMaxi · 04/08/2020 18:07

Ah sorry just noticed budget, not sure what you’d get in Whitstable would be big enough. Worth a look at there & surrounds though.

Thriceisnice · 04/08/2020 18:10

Sittingbourne. People slate it but there are some nice parts and it's really well connected to get to loads of different places. Cou try side in 5 minutes, beach in 15. Less than an hour to St Pancras on thr high speed line.

Throughabushbackwards · 04/08/2020 20:02

Seaford?

Brockenhurst in the New Forest.

RHOBHfan · 04/08/2020 20:14

Another vote for Norfolk.

Lonelycrab · 04/08/2020 20:20

Yes to Brockenhurst, Sway, Lymington and New Milton. If you’re commuting from Brock it’s 90 mins on the train. 400k is doable but won’t be huge.

New forest is amazing, beaches and sea tooSmile

Floralnomad · 04/08/2020 20:20

Anywhere in Kent really , good for the coast , lovely countryside ,convenient for London and the continent .

DoingDiddlySquat · 04/08/2020 20:21

what's the budget.

DoingDiddlySquat · 04/08/2020 20:27

Didn't see the budget in the title. Christchurch in Dorset is nice and has a station, near Bournemouth beach.

elfycat · 04/08/2020 20:31

I'm in Suffolk. It's nice here (Have lived in a few places). I'm in the middle and would like to move nearer the coast, but the house is good and I'm near a train line.

Woodbridge would be my preference, it's not near the sea exactly but the river Deben is wide and tidal by that point and beautiful. About 6 km to the sea and there's a train station. £400k would be a 3-4 bedroom house.

Don't tell anyone else it's nice up here. The pace is a lot slower than where I lived near Portsmouth, or where my family are spread from Hastings to Worthing. If everyone comes it might pick up here too!

Skyliner001 · 04/08/2020 23:31

@DoingDiddlySquat

what's the budget.
It's literally in the title of the thread 😳😬
SoosanCarter · 05/08/2020 14:03

Northumberland. I holiday near this village, it’s thriving, with a school and shop. Walk to the beach! Nearby Alnmouth railway station on main East Coast line.

You would have plenty of potential guests!

I vote for Deal in Kent
