Turquoise Bathroom!

Hiya, we are (hopefully) moving in a few weeks to our first 'owned' house, we love the house and the decoration is very clean but rather dated to say the least! Once we have factored in new carpets (a real essential for me) and other moving in costs we are going to have to save for a little while before we can replace the bathroom. At the moment the toilet, wash basin and bath are all a horrible turquoise colour (Confused) is there anything I can do about them really cheaply for a year or so? I am doubting that they can be painted but happy to be told I am wrong! The rest of the bathroom is laminate flooring, white tiles with occasional turquoise flower tiles (I have found ways to cover them up!) and a dark blue flowery wallpapered wall (which I actually quite like). Any ideas for the bathroom suite or is the only option to live with it until we can fully replace?

OP - I think you might be pleasantly surprised at what you can do cheaply, with a few bottles of bleach, white paint for the pipes (and possibly ceiling/exposed wall/window frames and door)

I had a hideous kitchen in a home I bought and painting walls and ceiling white made a huge difference

I’d get a grout pen vs regrouting, and possibly get new Lino or bath mat and towels

My god, keep it! It's a lovely colour, and those tiles look great. I'm deeply envious.

Coloured bathroom suites will be the next big thing, OP. Get some 60s and 70s accessories to go with it.

I love the colour 😆

I love it too! So much more fun than white. I would save up to replace the tiles around it to something more modern for a contrast but to keep the kitsch.

I agree with some of the others - get everything as sparkling clean as possible and then embrace the turquoise until you can afford to replace it. At least it's a funky, retro mid-century turquoise rather than a really lurid colour.

In most areas both the NHS and social services issue those bath lifts, you could check if they would like it back before you sell it?

@Choux

Make it very clean, and freshen up the white paint, grout etc then add toning colour for towels and accessories.

To be honest it might well be gone by the time we move in, I expect the vendors will have dealt with it. If not though my parents are almost eighty themselves so it might well find a good home there.

Thank you for all your ideas everyone, I am coming round to the idea of embracing the retro! New flooring, painting pipes and a good bleach.

The very patterned, swirly, brown and orange carpets in the rest of the house really are a step too far though......... ConfusedGrin
