Has the current situation put you off or do you feel confident to move?

Hummm. Just been discussing this with husband, we have seen (from the outside ) a small farm, but needs totally doing up, Ive just about come to the the end of my house titivating here, plus garden is looking very good.
We are torn, if i was 20 years younger I would jump at it but we didnt have the funds 20 years ago. Do i want to live in a state of upheaval again for god knows how long ?

If all house prices at all levels have come down the same amount. Then we are in the same situation
Ill see what this house gets valued at first
What about you ? Pilates ?

Loofah01 · 13/05/2020 17:04

I'd move if I wanted to.

HappyDinosaur · 13/05/2020 17:06

Yes I would.

Smallgoon · 13/05/2020 17:12

I exchanged in Feb this year and have no regrets. If the process was still ongoing, I don't think I'd pull out as I feel I got a good deal.

I feel that if you 'wait' in London, you'll always be waiting. Certainly, before taking the plunge last October, I felt that I'd spent the previous two years 'waiting'.

CREH · 13/05/2020 17:15

I did three weeks ago, my partner is furloughed so it's given him time to do stuff around the house. Check you can hire a van and other than that it's the same as before really. I wouldn't take on a project you need the trades for, might be difficult unless you ring around first! Remember it will take 2-3 months for everything to go though to so we might be back out of lockdown by then!

maddy68 · 13/05/2020 17:20

Yes I would. (and I am)

Tulipvase · 13/05/2020 17:37

I am in the process of moving and will continue to do so if I can.

imausernamenotanumber · 13/05/2020 17:38

House about to go on the market!

Fern204 · 13/05/2020 17:42

God I hope so, been trying to move for a year now, had offers on 5 houses, had three buyers, might finally be about to happen.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 13/05/2020 17:43

We have our first viewings tomorrow. We are still determined to move and lockdown just confirmed it for us. We need a garden!

Pipandmum · 13/05/2020 17:46

I am moving to London next year. I have to sell two properties to do this so watching the market closely. Quite glad I'm not in London at the moment though!

pilates · 13/05/2020 17:54

Yes I want to. Hope to put property on market in the next three weeks. Just wondered if I was being optimistic in being able to find a buyer quickly. Nice family house, large garden and close to a good primary and secondary school. When you have made the decision you want to go you, you just want to go and quickly!

foggybits · 13/05/2020 17:57

No but largely because I want to see how wfh plays out.

Namechangervaver · 13/05/2020 17:59

I would if I was renting.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 13/05/2020 18:29

Can they do surveys and viewings now then?

pilates · 13/05/2020 18:50

Viewings yes, not sure about home buyers surveys. I think some lenders do drive by valuations anyway.

OP posts:
PickAChew · 13/05/2020 18:54

It's enough of a nightmare in normal times!

ClariceBeanthatsme · 13/05/2020 18:56

We had a home buyers survey today we just went out while it was happening

foggybits · 13/05/2020 19:08

@PickAChew 🤣 I hate it!

teaandajammydodger · 15/05/2020 01:25

We are waiting to start hearing back from estate agent and solicitor to see if we can exchange. We still want to move but does our buyer?

DeeplyMovingExperience · 15/05/2020 08:06

Hi @pilates - we have just put our house on the market. We've priced it "to sell" (having taken the lowest of 3 valuations). It's a gorgeous house but too big for us now.

pilates · 15/05/2020 11:51

Thanks Deeply, would you mind updating us as to progress? Don’t worry if you would prefer not to.

OP posts:
fringeandtrainers · 15/05/2020 11:56

Yep, considering it. Obvs have had the chat with a few estate agents who've used the term 'buyers market' a lot but if you need to move, move. There always be something holding you back otherwise

pilates · 15/05/2020 12:03

Yes fringe, my husband feels he has enough in the tank to do another house up before he gets too old 😀

OP posts:
fringeandtrainers · 15/05/2020 16:19

That's the other issue is age/mortgage availability etc! Haha

There's so much doom and gloom but a lot of people have had shit loads of time to realise they don't like where they live/want to be closer to family/search rightmove so I don't think it's necessary to scare people. Unless you genuinely have an economics degree and a crystal ball to hand.
