Farrow and ball or Dulux?

Anyone any opinions?

Just moved into our first house and we're looking to do one wall in a statement blue (yes I know it's a cliche)!

We've narrowed it down to Stiffkey Blue by F&B and Sapphire Salute by Dulux.

They are either ends of the top row.

DH can not tell the difference at all and is no help! Hmm

Stiffkey blue is lovely, a calmer blue than the Dulux one. You can't go wrong with F&B!

NegativeNellyy · 09/05/2020 00:58

@PickAChew how do you pronounce it Blush

Wait no, I googled it.. didn't have a clue it was pronounced 'Stewkey' Blush though it makes sense it's after a beach rather than a key that was stiff...

That’s really embarrassing - my bedroom is Stiffkey blue, which I’ve discussed with people on numerous occasions without a clue I was pronouncing it totally wrong!

geojojo · 09/05/2020 07:52

I'm from quite near it and always thought it was stiv - key but have heard it pronounced Stoo - key.

ChickNorris · 09/05/2020 13:56

Stiffkey blue is a gorgeous colour. I have it on 3 walls in my (south-east facing) living room. The colour feels warm and enveloping, never oppressive. Even on a dull rainy day.

Btw the walls were prepped and done with a roller - the finish was great. Did need 3 coats over light paint but 5l was enough to do it. More than 3 years on I still love love love it :)

This is sapphire salute in our cloakroom downstairs. It's a small space but we love the colour in there.

@Parsley1234 have you thought of painting the wooden door the same colours as the walls? Would drop it back so it's not the main focus.

BettyFilous · 09/05/2020 14:57

If you have a Johnstones paint centre near you, they can make up F&B colours in Johnstone base paints (matt, gloss etc) -easier to apply & half the price of F&B.

CottonSock · 09/05/2020 14:57

Johnstones colour match f&b and do a scrubble Matt.

LouLouLoo · 09/05/2020 14:58

I much prefer Little Greene to F&B. Have never bought F&B since being recommended to try LG.

Parsley1234 · 09/05/2020 16:32

@noriim no I haven’t !!!! I have some paint I’ll try it thank you x

Hi OP. It looks lovely :).

I am wondering if you can tell me what you used on the wall with the picture on it? I think that that blue plays really well with what you have on the other walls and would love to know. You mentioned you were only doing that one wall so if you can't remember then don't worry. Anyway, a lovely result, well done :).

NegativeNellyy · 16/05/2020 20:14

It's dulux natural hessian :)
