Units online / second nature kitchens

Hi All
I'm favouring second nature kitchens, in particular the lovely mornington beaded shaker and I've had quotes from lots of online stores but I'm steering towards units online and was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on either the kitchen or the seller please, I'm so scared of something going wrong, it's so much money! Thanks in advance x

We have/did this. Units on line were very happy helpful checking the order and customising some units.

We needed an extra panel and touch up paint after delivery and they sorted very quickly.

EmBeEmBe · 21/02/2020 07:17

We have the mornington kitchen - unbeaded version. Its lovely. We got ours through a local kitchen designer which was easy but probably more expensive.

Toomanycats99 · 21/02/2020 07:27

Not that style but I'm just having a second nature Remo kitchen installed.

They have a massive showroom in Slough if you are down south. It's appointment only with the resellers I think - not just open to public.

I think my carcasses might be egger though not second nature.

Mixmag · 21/02/2020 07:35

Hi everyone thank you so much, feeling better about this already 👍 sorenipples do you have any pics you could share please? I'm dying to see people's kitchens in that range!
Toomanycats99 unfortunately I'm in Lancashire... I think we are sold on units online so I'm going to pay for their design service which comes off your bill... I paid for a private concept design service from the lovely Karen at Oneplan on Houzz so I know pretty much what I'm getting already but it's mainly to make sure enough cornice, plinth etc and it holds them accountable then to make sure the orders right.
I think looking at all the sellers all the carcasses are egger?

I have a feeling they do have a northern showroom as well but no idea where!

Toomanycats99 · 21/02/2020 07:56

I think it's in County Durham - it's under PWS which is the manufacturer name.

FrederickSinclair · 21/02/2020 08:23

Does anyone know how Units Online compares price wise to DIY Kitchens?

Mixmag · 21/02/2020 09:17

Thanks, I'll do some googling!
Also just some useful advice for people... I've just received mornington beaded sample door from kitchenyard and although the kitchen was more expensive their sample door which is a full size one was just 12 pounds and that included postage!!! Also lark and lark which are also more expensive send out free samples of the carcass colours so I've now been able to see the door and carcass colours first hand.
I don't think there's much in it price wise, it depends on what you want exactly like shaker, inframe etc. I know that units online are definitely the cheapest for my kitchen by second nature and the email exchanges have been second to none. They seem happy to change unit sizes for me etc. I was sold on the Norton range at diykitchens but they don't do and won't make a 1200mm wide larder unit so I've had to look elsewhere.

Units Online seem to have much more choice of inframe kitchens which is what we want. I can't see the option for pan drawers anywhere though, am I missing something?!

Mixmag · 21/02/2020 14:09

Look under base units and then you'll see drawer packs 👍

I have used DIY and Units Online. As a pp says, different styles and therfore different prices. The Units Online kitchen was much more expensive but thats because it was a wooden inframe kitchen. Tony who helped with design was great.

SafariSurnise · 21/02/2020 23:13

The kitchen looks lovely but I am not sure about quality of the doors - we already have a few paint chips and they seem to appear out of nowhere!! Also the drawers/doors needed a lot of adjustments... overall the experience wasn't bad but it was quite underwhelming for what it is. DIY kitchens would have worked out cheaper for us but I read about issues with delivery and missing bits and I appreciated being able to contact customer service via phone rather than email.
We also made the mistake of purchasing the worktop from WorktopExpress.... Oh well, you live and you learn :)

SafariSurnise · 21/02/2020 23:14

Sorry, forgot to write that we recently purchased a kitchen from Units Online - mornington beaded.

Mixmag · 22/02/2020 08:26

Safarisunrise oh no sorry to hear that! I am so sold on that kitchen that this is definitely giving me food for thought. I'd go with diykitchens if I could get a 1200mm larder but then only go up to 1000mm. What colour did you go for in mornington beaded? And did you buy the touch up lacquer? Thanks

SafariSurnise · 22/02/2020 09:14

We went for copse green. Bought the touch up lacquer as well but haven’t used it yet. It’s a really nice kitchen!

Mixmag · 22/02/2020 09:55

Well hopefully this is just settling in knocks and nothing else occurs... It is hard to know what to go for... I was also sold on a hand painted kitchen from pineland but it's about 5k more and people say they have loads of dents in the cabinets just from normal life really but they will dent because pines a softwood. I'm on a strict budget now as the build quotes are ridiculous 😕

Hi @MixMag,

I'm also interested in a second nature kitchen from Units Online - the Fitzroy. I'm going to email a plan of my kitchen tomorrow and get a price. Have you been up to the showroom yet?

It's such a terrifying process isn't it!! And then there's the appliances and worktops to source - I'm just in a headspin!!

rosinavera · 01/03/2020 17:41

Sorry I meant @Mixmag!

Mixmag · 02/03/2020 08:58

Hi @rosinavera
I haven't bn to the show room, it would have to be a holiday as I'm based in Liverpool! I've seen the kitchen at a local kitchen company and very happy with it. I love the Fitzroy kitchen, that's gorgeous, there's a lady on Instagram who's got one in the dove grey and it's so so nice! Yes heads in a pickle with all this planning... I so wanted to get a kitchen from diykitchens, they really need to be more flexible with bespoke unit sizes x

OP posts:
rosinavera · 02/03/2020 17:52

Ooooo Mixmag please give me the details of the lady on instagram with the Fitzroy kitchen??!!

Are you going to have worktops from them too??

CMBC0320 · 02/03/2020 18:44

@Mixmag Hey, would love to hear about your experience with OnePlan, and what you felt you got out of it. We've a couple of sticking points in our layout and thinking about using them.

Mixmag · 02/03/2020 18:56

@rosinavera see this lovely lady's account,
instagram.com/our_harrogate_revamp?igshid=i6himxji9y3v
Her kitchen is absolute goals... Her quartz is amazing too, just the right amount of veining!
I'll be sourcing quartz worktops locally as I want them to template and fit x

@CMBC0320 I think for us we chose to work with Karen as we were undecided as to what to do with our new space and the few high street kitchen companies I'd visited had created some pretty awful designs... Karen really listened and has a lot of experience. She offers practical solutions. You can see my design on her Houzz page
Check out this professional from Houzz -www.houzz.co.uk/pro/oneplan/oneplan
I'm Kirsty...
I understand not everyone wants to spend the money on design but for us it was a no brainer and Karen has basically produced a shopping list of exactly the units and extras I need to create our kitchen... Its been so handy to just email it to multiple companies for quotes 👍 Hope this helps.
