As title, I would love to know what you have and why?
Also rough cost?

I am thinking of getting two or three security firms to come round and assess the property? Currently has nothing other than Yale locks... Hmm

Cctv at the front and back of house. Cost me £600 for a local security firm to install. Can be viewed on my tv and online.

thefourgp · 18/01/2020 18:23

I have an angry ex.

JoJoSM2 · 18/01/2020 18:32

I have burgler sensors and alarm. Slightly paranoid about a number of high value items in the house.

willothewispa · 18/01/2020 18:44

Locks on the doors and windows.

BubblesBuddy · 18/01/2020 21:45

We are on the edge of our tiny village and no one overlooks us. We have a safe. High value items are in it! We have mortise locks on all external doors. We also have actual bolts too. We have 6 external doors. All windows have locks and are double glazed. There are lights on p I r in strategic places.

In addition we have an alarm system and cctv for the approach to the house. I really don’t know how much it all cost as it’s been incremental. We have just aimed to make it as difficult as possible as, over the years, multiple properties have been burgled in the vicinity. Gangs have done 10 in a day. We don’t want to be in this stat!

TooLaidBack27 · 18/01/2020 22:55

2 baseball bats! Grin I can only explain them by my post-natal anxiety 5 years ago. I have bought a fire extinguisher at the same time, too Hmm

Pipandmum · 18/01/2020 22:57

Yale lock and dead bolt. Also two dogs.

Asdf12345 · 18/01/2020 22:58

A gate and a guard dogs sign. Three gunsafes across split locations with firearms and valuables inside.

DrDreReturns · 18/01/2020 22:58

4 CCTV cameras which record to a hard drive. It's a good visible deterrent imo.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 18/01/2020 22:59

Standard front door locks, window locks, and a terrier with a bark that makes him sound like a rottweiler 😂

IWishItWasSummer · 18/01/2020 23:02

We have CCTV, sensor burglar alarms and 4 dogs. We live very rurally.

BubblesBuddy · 18/01/2020 23:03

My friend had a big dog. Burglars gave it food. The dog enjoyed the food. They lost a lot.

wingingitalltheway · 18/01/2020 23:05

CCTV camera front, back and down a little side alley leading to our garden.
An alarm system too. All cost about £1500 I think! Pricy but my DP had his steering wheel stolen (just that - not the whole car!) and some other neighbours cars had been broken into.
Just made us feel safer!

lazylinguist · 18/01/2020 23:06

I don't even have Yale locks. There's a burglar alarm, installed by previous owners, but I have no idea how it works. We have a big dog with a loud bark who would not accept food from a stranger!

lazylinguist · 18/01/2020 23:07

Sorry, meant I also only have Yale locks!

kissmewherethesundontshine · 18/01/2020 23:09

A big dogue who would probably accept food but still not allow you in Grin

Titsywoo · 18/01/2020 23:12

We have a Nest doorbell, and nest cameras (one on back and one on the part of the drive the doorbell doesn't cover) also a very very strong front door. DH travels a lot and it makes me feel safer - plus it deters people.

potbellend · 18/01/2020 23:14

9 CCTV cameras
Video doorbell.
Fence panels nailed down
Shock sensors on all windows
Alarm system, multiple programs for when we are in and out.
A good 4/5 security sensor flood lights.

Quiet little town here but we get targeted

MeanwhileAtNumber98 · 18/01/2020 23:14

We don't have any (except a terrier who believes she is a guard dog but will allow anyone in if they rub her belly).
We're going to look into an alarm system I think.

Cecilia2016 · 18/01/2020 23:18

We have ring doorbell camera so that i can see who is coming to my front door and see them before I answer the door and also my husband works away so it makes me feel safe with the children. The price are different from different shops eg Argo, curry’s or others. We also have alarm that monitored by an alarming company and we pay £214 per year and the installation was £1,500 four years ago. We live in the quiet area and our last house is the last one and surrounded by tree and behind the house is also trees so for that reason we decided to have these 2 securities to alarm the house when not in or when we travel and it also puts my husband mind at peace when Is not around.

TheGinGenie · 18/01/2020 23:19

Nothing - I have a lock on the door but not even all my windows lock. I have almost nothing worth stealing though

Cecilia2016 · 18/01/2020 23:19

We have security sensors lights too

Ariela · 18/01/2020 23:22

We have an alarm that is connected to a call centre and they would get the police out. However I think the dog is the deterrent, she would bite first and ask questions later. If anyone approaches the house they think she is going to come through the window....

wonderstuff · 18/01/2020 23:29

We have an alarm that came with the house that we've never used, I worry the cats will set it off. Locks on doors and windows. It's a fairly low crime area and we really don't have much worth stealing. I do tend to put car keys away from doors as they really are all we have of value. In previous houses I've rarely locked doors, but this house is a bit nicer and more central so I do lock up now.
I am tempted to buy a camera to try to catch the knob who let's his dog use my garden as a toilet though.

Gibble1 · 18/01/2020 23:31

Noisy dogs. Spaniel goes mental when anyone comes anywhere near the front door.
Someone was in our back garden in the middle of the night last summer and they woke me up going absolutely tits at the noise, both ran out onto patio barking their heads off and stayed with me when I went down with a torch and told whoever it was to get out of my garden or I would let them loose on them. (They were hiding behind me but are both very loud and Labrador is very big). Text the neighbours to let them know to go and check their tool shed as the DH has all of his business tools in it and his van.
We had had someone come and unlock our gate a while before and both dogs had escaped onto the road. There had been lots of Facebook posts about thefts of pedigrees and we thought someone might have been hanging around to steal them but they just went running to the bins over the road 🤦🏻‍♀️. We changed our back gate after that and it’s more secure.
