As title, I would love to know what you have and why?
Also rough cost?

I am thinking of getting two or three security firms to come round and assess the property? Currently has nothing other than Yale locks... Hmm

We're in a council flat and in a really nice village. Burglaries are pretty much non-existent round here thank Zeus! Farm machinery/vehicle thefts and work van break ins are bad though.
For homes in the village, many people don't even lock their doors a lot of the time and even less do so when in and awake.
I have no alarm but I do have wireless cctv but that's for the local little shits kicking doors, throwing stuff at windows and generally making a nuisance of themselves. The CCTV has scared them off completely and all for the bargain price of £79.99! They and their parents have been warned that footage will be going to police and their parents names on to Facebook along with the videos.

The parents are quick to say "It's not my boy/girl!" But the threat of naming and shaming has them actually making their kids stop pulling that crap (at my house at least) even though they also claim "it's not them!".

@Miljea I googled videos of security cameras when looking to buy one because as you say, most are rubbish. On a lot you wouldn't even be able to tell what sex the person is that you're supposed to be looking at never mind their facial features!
Mine, like the likes of Ring doorbells, is very, very clear. You get a great mugshot of them! I was the same with my dash cam. I watched hundreds of different cameras footage on YouTube and only picked one that was actually good.

We have cctv (linked to phones)
Big dogs
Long driveway
Gates
Security lighting
The doors and windows are falling out of their frames.... thank god for a Newhouse next month!

TiddyTid · 20/01/2020 00:11

Two dogs.

Large one is not very friendly with people he doesnt know so strangers usually wait at the gate once they hear/see him!

Street so overlooked and nosy you can't blow your nose without the woman over the road knowing about it.

Ring doorbell plus ring floodlight cameras outside house
Ring camera inside activated when we are out to detect movement inside house
All windows have locks and are always locked
All doors are either 5 lever or double locking systems with ABS locks
House alarm with door sensors and PIR -always set at night or when we are out
Lights for lounge and hall always on timers so never change
Neighbourhood watch - very active FBK group with bolshy people who challenge strangers Grin
Lovely neighbours who sort of overlook us keep an eye out when we are away
And finally lovely friends who check on house when we are away

My house was broken into when I was a young teenager, we actually disturbed them so they were in the house as my entire family came through the front door. It was terrifying knowing they were inside the house and legging it our our back door (how they got in.) Couldn't sleep for weeks.

Decent anti snap locks on the doors.
Patio doors have no lock or handles on the outside anymore.
Alarm system on ground floor and first floor, plus on external doors.

We put the full alarm on whenever we are all out. We put downstairs in when we go to bed. We always have the doors locked, even when in. Downstairs windows are locked.

We leave a light on overnight when in, and have random lights in when we are all away for a holiday or weekend, etc.

We've been broken into at our previous house when our in the middle of the day.
We were also broken into in our current home whilst we were in bed. The alarm went off and it scared them away. We have since improved the door locks and changed the patio doors (their access point as most patio doors are very easy to break in through) to have no way of opening from the outside.

hardwood external doors with Chubb deadlocks on them (two each on the back doors)

special lock on the front door

Tall garden gate with Chubb deadlock
sturdy shed with another hardwood door on it (ex-front door)

metal locks on windows with removable keys

laminated glass in patio door

Substantial fire doors fitted with mortice locks

Rated intruder alarm with monitoring

Mostly because I'm rather eccentric, though in one of my early jobs part of my duties included checking security measures at branches of a bank-like institution, and finding that managers often leave the key in the safe door with their bunch of keys hanging off it, because the bunch of keys is so heavy and awkward. Hence all my downstairs locks except the front door are suited to a single key. When I go out I only carry a front door key, a car key, and a key to the keysafe.

Also because used to be away from home for predictable periods, and at that time my neighbour used to have an open gateway in the back wall leading to a wooded area, and their house attracted numbers of young single men of unknown provenance.

my risk profile is now much lower.

Damn, this is a zombie thread

I will only add that you should never use any product from celttracking apps, because they are an untrustworthy and low-quality company and I have never seen anything they sell that is worth the money.

All three exterior doors have three locks, three exterior cameras which record for ten days then overwrite and 6ft + fences

AnotherMarshmallow · 29/07/2020 19:48

Two Blink cameras - one on the front of house covering the drive, and one at the back covering the garden. They're really good - battery operated so no wires needed, motion detection, £180 for both, no subscription fees etc and record to an app. They're a good deterrent and we have a CCTV sign in the window too.

We also have a camera in the kitchen which was £20 or so and records constantly.

Plus a burglar alarm (which doesn't actually work but is very visible), all windows always locked and front and back doors always double locked.

10ft wall around the property with gates and intercom/cctv system.

Sensor alarm system linked to live response. security doors.

Safe in floor and smaller decoy safe In wardrobe.

The alarm service is several ££k per year but it’s difficult to get sufficient insurance for high value items without it.
