I’m so excited that didn’t even make sense! I meant in equal measures

Gillian1980 · 30/11/2019 11:17

Yay! Great news @Little11

gingerninja99 · 30/11/2019 13:15

@Little11 wonderful news!! Grin

Orangesanddachshunds · 30/11/2019 16:08

I'm so glad that a lot of you have exchanged and completed now, congratulations! And hang in there to everybody else! It's such a stressful process, but we will get there :)

We've had our search results back and pre contracts... but we're waiting on a probate, has anybody else been waiting on one? It's been 5 weeks since our offer was accepted now and I keep hoping it will turn up soon! :)

TempestHayes · 30/11/2019 22:13

Great news @Little11!

Indemnity is, I think, sorted, so the next hanging question is 'when do we all want to exchange?' Awaiting reply for three days now but no rush ^^;

MeMeMeYou · 01/12/2019 21:25

Congrats @Little11 great news!

I’m crossing everything for exchange this week...

Hawkmoth · 02/12/2019 08:08

Checking back in from our new house to empathise with those still in the trap of conveyancing and the truth-stretching therein.

Apart from having packers/movers who couldn't be arsed and our stuff being a complete disaster area, all went fairly smoothly and the new house has welcomed us with open arms.

I appear to have bought a jungle though. We had a gardener over to quote for new gates and his eyes lit up as he saw a VERY BIG PROJECT!

From urban bus route to edge of rural village, we are here and sleeping better than ever. It's quiet, dark and fresh... and wonderful.

All worth the hassle and the stress.

housebuyer101 · 02/12/2019 10:05

Congrats @Hawkmoth glad you're loving life!

We had our mortgage approved today, so I instructed the level 3 survey.

Then hopefully that's it our side - everything else has been done!
FTB below us who are sending queries from their searches soon. I wanted to exchange before Xmas and complete after, but looks like we won't exchange until the new year.

Gillian1980 · 02/12/2019 11:38

Completion is a week today!!

So we’re about half packed.... but bloody hell I'm finding progress slow with a 6 month old! If I’m lucky he’ll be happy in his jumperoo for enough time to do 1/2 a box. Feeding lots and will only nap on me. MIL is coming tomorrow to help so hopefully we can blitz it then.

DH is working all week but can do the final bits over the weekend.

The house is chaotic!!!

Gillian1980 · 02/12/2019 11:38

@MeMeMeYou fingers crossed for this week!!

Gillian1980 · 02/12/2019 11:39

@Hawkmoth sounds great!!

Hope I’ll be on in a couple of weeks saying similar.

Pilodowan · 02/12/2019 21:27

We're still waiting...

Thoroughly fed up of it now. Our solicitors are waiting for documents from vendors solicitors regarding an extension on the kitchen. The vendors say they have provided these documents and their solicitors are "reviewing" them. Just seems to be dragging out now.

Can't put a Christmas tree up because I don't know where we'll be for Christmas, can't buy presents because there's no room for anything anywhere in the rental house, just want a bloomin' date to work around Xmas Hmm

Doilooklikeatourist · 03/12/2019 08:31

We put our house on the market in July ( very slow here , we live in Wales and are at the top end of the price range )

As we’ve had no viewings so far we thought that we wouldn’t get a viewing until probably Easter ,

We’ve had a think about changing agent , getting better photos and having some bits done to the house

Booked new worktops and tiles for the kitchen to be done next week , and had a phone call yesterday ( when in Tesco ) there’s a cash buyer wanting to view on Wednesday !!!!!!!

Who’d have thought 😀

Please keep your 🤞 fingers crossed that they fall in love with the place at first sight

Preggosaurus9 · 03/12/2019 11:10

Late to come back as bump arrived 2.5wks ago..

Congratulations @MrBobLobLaw !!! He is adorable. So happy you got the house too.

So today I could cry. Our buyer has decided to try and get 3.5k off the asking price. Due to wanting to put in a damp proof course (already exists) replace guttering (doesn't leak) and flashing (doesn't leak either). I can understand as a FTB they are concerned by the survey saying those things need doing but ffs it's a Victorian house, use your common sense!

I'm trying not to cry, I really thought we were nearing the end now! So worried it could all fall apart.

Karcheer · 03/12/2019 11:50

so the viewer on friday didn't like our house, he wants a square back garden, gravel driveway and gates, and would knock the dining room into the kitchen (we have a glass wall with doors so you can be open plan or not depending on how you feel). so not the house for them.
can't imagine we will have any viewings till Jan now...

burritofan · 03/12/2019 13:29

Vendor's estate agent phones me first thing this morning: "She's agreed to your buyer's reduces deposit being passed up the chain and has instructed her solicitor to proceed to exchange. Tell everyone!"

I tell my estate agent, my solicitor, my boyfriend and next door's cat.

Four hours of nail-biting later, my solicitor emails: "Your seller's solicitor has received no instructions as to deposit, completion date or exchange."

SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, IS FUCKING AROUND

WineWineWine (just serving myself all the MN wine now)

housebuyer101 · 03/12/2019 14:23

Just had an email that management company have released enough information requested! It looks like exchange is due before Xmas fingers crossed.
We aren't fussed about moving in before, we just want to know no one can pull out easily...mainly the sale of ours!

KnickerBockerAndrew · 03/12/2019 14:26

Hey everyone! May I join? I am a FTB who has had an offer accepted on a property in early August, but it's looking unlikely that I'll be in before Christmas as promised. It's been such a long road- left STBXH 7 years ago, have been renting since then, am in the middle of a divorce. The process of buying has been so long and stressful that sometimes I lose the absolute joy and privilege that I'M ACTUALLY ABLE TO BUY A HOUSE ON MY OWN WITHOUT A MAN! Grin I thought I was walking away from the possibility of owning a home when I left my marriage, so I'm very very lucky to be in this position now.

The vendors I'm buying from are buying a flat, and the people selling that have recently sacked their solicitor for being slow. As of a week ago, searches hadn't even been done yet (though everything has been done on my side.) It's so frustrating!

housebuyer101 · 03/12/2019 16:50

Wait nevermind, within an hour we have had the dreaded call of a survey issue 😡

Candlesky · 03/12/2019 18:35

Our buyers have pulled out today, haven't provided any details as to why and estate agents are trying to get hold of her. We were about 3 weeks in, survey was done 2 weeks ago and I thought everything was just plodding along nicely.

Really upset as it's looks like we will have to pull out of the house we want to buy if we can't find another buyer soon. Why is this all such hard work.

@Preggosaurus9 really hope it doesn't fall apart for you!
@housebuyer101 fingers crossed for you it isn't anything too serious

Preggosaurus9 · 03/12/2019 18:57

@Orangesanddachshunds we are waiting on probate too. Estate agent was saying it will be granted in 6 wks and we can complete before Xmas Hmm load of tripe! I think we will be lucky to have it done by end Dec.

@Candlesky what! That's outrageous.

Honestly the whole process is so torturous.

MeMeMeYou · 03/12/2019 22:02

@burritofan I feel your pain that all sounds so familiar

@candlesky so sorry to hear your buyers pulled out. That’s your worst nightmare reslly

so we have someone in the chain with time limit for mortgage offer and need ti complete by 20.12. our solicitor says it has to be by 16.12 as the office shuts for xmas!! im baffled. is really no one in the office from mid december? this could cause the chain to fall apart. so deflated. if we dont exchange by end of week i think we're f@cked. but bottom of chain still has outstanding issues and their solicitor seems hopeless...

NewYoiker · 04/12/2019 04:58

So mortgage offer is through now, searches are back.. enquiries are going to take fucking months to sort out! 🤦‍♀️

Dinosauraddict · 04/12/2019 05:10

I've been off this thread for a week so congrats to @Gillian1980 and Little on your exchanges! So sorry to those of you whose chains have fallen through/at risk. Coming up to that really annoying Christmas time when the solicitors all take 2 weeks off and we want to bang our heads against brick walls! I'm in a strange position this year in that we exchanged last month, but they're finishing the build, so won't be completing until March. Have sent Christmas cards to developer, solicitor etc, but just stepping back and letting them plod along for now...

burritofan · 04/12/2019 11:46

Finally it's happened to me! Got the email alert to say our sale and purchase we're both exchanged while I was changing DD's nappy, so not the exciting moment we've all been waiting for but ::Etta James voice:: at laaaaaaaaasssst!

I now pass the baton of luck to the next poor buyer/seller on this thread.
