If you had a spare under worktop space .../

What would you add? We recently had our tumblr dryer condemned and for environmental reasons we are not replacing it.

We already have a fridge and freezer with adequate space. Also got a dishwasher.

It would be quite expensive to have an original unit made to match the existing units.

So what after market unit could I get (that is individual enough to look ok) or what under counter appliance do I need? This all has access to water and electrics.

A wine fridge?

Mrscog · 03/10/2019 06:18

We’ve got our bin in a space like that.

Could you have some open shelves fitted by a joiner?

AwkwardSquad · 03/10/2019 06:33

A trolley from Ikea, it looks really good and it’s very useful. This one: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/raskog-trolley-dark-blue-30401789/

There’s a chopping board that fits on the top to create an additional work surface as well.

moleeye · 03/10/2019 08:02

@funmummy48 that would be heaven!

I'd gladly get rid of the oven and make space for that!

StCharlotte · 03/10/2019 08:12

I'd rather get rid of my lovely DH than the tumble dryer!

SalamanderOnHoliday · 03/10/2019 08:32

I’d get something fitted by a joiner....so shelves or pull out drawers.

Chasingsquirrels · 03/10/2019 08:39

The dog bed (probably not helpdul))

Ariela · 03/10/2019 08:42

Pull out shelves or some such arrangement that fit recycling bins, so you can sort as you go..

HerkyBaby · 03/10/2019 08:59

Get a second dishwasher- all the best kitchens have them apparently.

Mosaic123 · 03/10/2019 10:05

Another oven? Always useful to have one. Could be a steam oven too.

Windydaysuponus · 03/10/2019 10:07

A ddog bed obviously!!

isseywithcats · 03/10/2019 12:20

shelves can never have too much storage in a kitchen

Shoeshelpplease · 04/10/2019 11:31

Thanks for ideas. Sorry but should have mentioned it's in utility room. I like the idea of the trolley, could fit a couple of those in bit would need to do something at the back to box pipes in for when the trolleys are out.

Am also wondering about a fridge that stores and chills eater but with a pipe above.

We have eater coming via a softener but only tap not on the system is utility room. We would just need something to filter and chill it.

How about a large double lidded laundry basket? - could be custom made if nothing available off the shelf big enough to fit your space .
One for darks and 1 for lights, and, if there's space, a third one for the ironing.
Just need to instruct household occupants on the system.😁

No it wouldn't

But it might be difficult to find matching doors.

Storage space for your drying rack... Or you can get units that have wicker baskets, which should work with any doors and might be handy for laundry

666onmyhead · 04/10/2019 19:41

A heat pump tumble dryer is a greener alternative

PickAChew · 04/10/2019 20:08

I'd go for a heat pump dryer, too. Airers full of wet laundry aren't particularly good for the house, or for the laundry when it takes forever to dry.

LazyFace · 04/10/2019 20:32

I really regret not having a kneading board. My grandma has a huge one , part of the furniture, it pulls out and it looks like a drawer front. The 60 cms width of a dishwasher wouldn't be enough for me, but I'll try to remember this for my next kitchen.

CactusAndCacti · 04/10/2019 21:49

I store shoes in my spare space. I think it is a tumble drier space, but the previous owners had theirs in the garage and we have just followed suit.

IncrediblySadToo · 04/10/2019 21:59

I’d do nothing until the New Year, see how you get on without a dryer!

DontLettuceBrexitLettuceRomain · 04/10/2019 22:09

I came on to say the ikea trolley! It's so useful

wowfudge · 04/10/2019 22:17

Hobbycraft have their version of the IKEA trolley on offer at £25 at the moment v. £39 in IKEA.

I'd replace the tumble dryer too. Wet washing around the place is something I really dislike.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 04/10/2019 22:24

A Christmas fridge. I really want one. A fridge to put all the Christmas food and dessert into so that you can still have room for the regular food, that you eat every day except Christmas, in the main fridge. Also useful for being out of sight, out of mind so that the DC don't keep eyeing up the desserts.
