If you love where you live...

If you love where you live... where do you live?

Reading through threads about different locations, there's always a mix of negative and positive comments. So if you love living in your village/town/area of a city, where is it?

Also a leafy(ish) south Manchester suburb - love it. Near enough to the city that everything is accessible, close enough to good parks/the canal/countryside that I don't feel claustrophobic. Nice bars and shops a few minutes down the road, excellent transport links, friendly neighbours.

Splendidsun · 06/07/2019 14:07

Hove .. ten minutes from beach, ten minutes from The Downs and the same to work ... all on my bike!!!

fromthefloorboardsup · 06/07/2019 14:48

Devon. Lots of beaches, countryside & still big towns/cities. Used to live in the south east and I don't miss it at all

longearedbat · 06/07/2019 15:00

Small village in rural Gloucestershire. Love the fact I barely see a soul when I walk the dog round beautiful countryside. Appreciate nature and watching the changing of the seasons. I hate crowds of humanity and noise. I am a bit anti-social!

PinkysEars · 06/07/2019 15:09

Absolutely tiny village in North Yorkshire. York is nearest city (about 25 miles away).

The first and last thing I hear every day is birdsong. And sheep.

It's a beautiful and friendly village. No one would ever walk past without making eye contact and saying hello.

What a beautiful view have visited Northern Ireland a lot and it’s beaches are breathtaking. I myself live in rural Ireland very peaceful and with beautiful views nearest town is 5 mins away.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 06/07/2019 15:19

North London. Zone 2

Second home in Gloucestershire, in complete contrast.

SolitudeIsHighlyOverrated · 06/07/2019 15:43

@Nannyamc It's a beautiful part of the world. I've lived in numerous countries over the years and I always end up back here. That beach is known locally for its sunbathing cows.

TapasForTwo · 06/07/2019 15:48

Why JoJo?
What's wrong with country living? I can be in Leeds or Sheffield in half an hour, and at night time hear the sheep baaing in the fields, rather than the rumble of traffic.

smallereveryday · 06/07/2019 16:12

This is my view .
45 minutes from London. Beautiful town of Tunbridge Wells 3 miles away with everything you could ever need..

I can't breathe in a city but have to work there. Every evening I return to this. It's all body and mind need.

Small but busy town in the West of Ireland. Love it - it is beautiful, feels pretty safe for the children, lots of music, art and sport going on.

London zone 2/3 border with lovely parks on the doorstep and the ability to walk, bike or public transport to everything.

Would also love to live by the sea or in the hills/mountains, but my job is in London and I very much value my short commute.

shartsi · 06/07/2019 19:35

Upminster. Good high street, excellent schools, lots of green open spaces , no stabbings, and easy commute to London, 3 stops to Fenchurch street on c2c.

stillworkingitout · 06/07/2019 19:40

In a leafy suburb of a city on the south coast. I live ~10 minutes walk from work, 5 minutes from a bustling, if a little gritty, high street. Good schools, nice houses. 45 minutes from the beach, an hour from London. I like it here. I grew up somewhere much more isolated and rural - stunningly beautiful but isolated nonetheless.

TroysMammy · 06/07/2019 19:44

Swansea. Beaches, countryside, shops. Contrary to belief it doesn't rain every day and when the country is blanketed by snow we see more icing on a Victoria sponge.

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/07/2019 19:57

Incredibly leafy bit of London. Real sense of community. Great amenities and transport links so kids can be independent. Ancient woodland within walking distance and deer parks nearby. 10 mins in car and we are deep in the countryside, 10 mins on train we're on the Southbank. Perfect for us.

Youngandfree · 06/07/2019 20:04

South east Ireland, rural, just outside a tiny village, 10 mins from a seaside town and 12-15 mins from a city! 5mins from several beautiful beaches. 15 mins from some mountains, in my opinion we have it all here 💕🙌

EdWinchester · 06/07/2019 20:10

Rural East Bumblefuck. Nothing in our village, but love it beyond words. Beautiful countryside, lovely community.

10 min drive to the nearest town.

ravenshope · 06/07/2019 20:10

West Wales coast.

JoJoSM2 · 06/07/2019 20:42

@TapasForTwo I was surprised to so many coutryside responses as statistically most people live in cities :)

London

Large quiet house (lots of original features like 5 fireplaces and 10 foot ceilings) with view of Canary Wharf
14 minutes on train to Charing Cross

Msgiggles30 · 06/07/2019 21:10

Cardiff. I love it, small city but everything you could want. Loads of green spaces and friendly people, beaches within 20 mins drive and lots of countryside near by too

Cazleanne · 06/07/2019 21:38

@LaurieFairyCake 😂😂

TrimYourWick · 06/07/2019 22:02

We live in a pretty conservation village 15 miles outside of Edinburgh, love it here
