the house i lush but all the main garden space seems to be at the front and side not much more than a yard at the back which is where you want to sit out on a nice day

wowfudge · 21/05/2019 22:15

The house is on a triangular plot with streets front and back. To be fair, from Streetview I don't think the garden is as overlooked as I thought it would be.

Zofloramummy · 21/05/2019 22:19

I think it’s gorgeous, yes it’s a bit overlooked but it’s beautiful inside. If the back yard is south facing it could make a lovely Mediterranean courtyard/BBQ area.

Bartelby · 21/05/2019 22:35

I think it’s gorgeous too. But I th8nk I’m letting period features block out the fact we are moving because I want a garden...

North east facing back yard, south facing house. Not overlooked st front at all. Wondering about feasibility of sunroom on west gable end.

Morning sun only at the back then. Is it a busy road at the front?

Voldethought · 21/05/2019 22:53

It looks lovely. It takes me back - I used to live a few streets away!

Bartelby · 22/05/2019 06:57

V quiet road at front. It’s a lovely area.

It's very pretty and the garden is nicely designed. However, if you want a garden, then I'm surprised it's even a contender given how small it is at the back. And front gardens don't feel private and nice to sit out in.

jackstini · 22/05/2019 07:07

Beautiful big house and looks like with higher hedges you could make the side/front gardens private enough to use

Mnbb · 22/05/2019 07:11

Downstairs of the house is lovely but partly because of the taste of the current owners. Upstairs the bedrooms and bathrooms need some work. From the outside the house is marred by the pebble dash.

The garden doesn’t seem private at all.

wowfudge · 22/05/2019 07:41

I disagree re: privacy in the garden. With those gates closed, you can't see in. You could always add a hedge to the left of the drive anyway.

As for the pebbledash - not an issue when it's on lots of the houses in the area.

WishIwas19again · 22/05/2019 08:19

What's your family set up? No good with small kids, you'd have to be outside all the time as the only enclosed bit you can see from inside rooms is that tiny back yard.

I don't think you'd ever really use the rest of it, it's on the side and accessed by steps so not sure I'd be bothered to cart all my gear outside every time and feels a bit weird sitting exposed on the side.

Inside, upstairs is lovely, downstairs the kitchen area is a mish mash of small rooms and plastic roofs, not sure how warm and steamy it will get in winter?

Pretty but not very practical I would say

Bartelby · 22/05/2019 08:44

No kids. I did wonder about bbqs etc. Having to take everything around through the back. Also wondered about putting sun room on the west side leading out of the sitting room.

Nice view if a wall and gate through the French window.

Bartelby · 22/05/2019 08:57

Pretty confident I could pretty up the back yards.

Pretty not practical probably a v good summary....

Hate kitchens without a window - greasy and fishy smells and no fresh air.

MyThirdBestWig · 22/05/2019 09:50

Worth a viewing or at least a drive-by to scope out how the garden could work. It's not small, and it's difficult to judge how private it is from the ad.

wowfudge · 22/05/2019 11:38

I think it's worth viewing - lots going for it. I'd look at opening the dining room and kitchen up into one large kitchen diner. It looks as though the cooker is against the outside wall and there may have been a window there originally.

BlueSkiesLies · 22/05/2019 12:45

Beautiful and big. I would live there. I like the layout.

Family room and the breakfast area look like a conservatory rather than a proper extension.

The garden being to the side/front wouldn't bother me, depending how busy that road is.

You could make the back yard really lovely with lots of plants in pots.

It is a semi so that is no window, but the wall adjoining next door house.

You can just open the doors in the breakfast room to get airflow - its just one open plan room with the kitchen at the far end.

somecakefather · 22/05/2019 13:13

It's absolutely beautiful, I love it.

sunshinesupermum · 22/05/2019 13:21

Gorgeous!

BiscuitDrama · 22/05/2019 13:24

I think it’s worth viewing to see how the sideways garden feels.

Bartelby · 25/05/2019 08:35

I think carrying drinks in or out and having a bbq in the sunny bit would become tiresome.
