what did you compromise on?

Just went to see a house which was perfect except for a) small bedrooms, and b) traffic noise from a nearby A road. These might not be deal breakers because the good things about it are far more numerous, but just pondering. What did you compromise on?

No gas. I'd never do it again, electricity bills are sky high

Our house didnt have gas when we moved in. We found it awful. Hated cooking on electric hob, the storage heaters were useless , and we had the ugliest and least effective electric fire in the history of the world!!

We "downgraded" from a new build semi to a Victorian terrace. But we have spaaaace. Last house had a great downstairs, but tiny bedrooms. This one has much bigger bedrooms and an attic conversion.
We've gone down to one bathroom after having a (poky, mouldy) ensuite and a downstairs toilet, but we're planning on adding an extra shower.

Interior - 80s. Required large slow spend. But got a 6 bed house in lovely London suburb in catchment outstanding state school so a win overall. Also good price (made around £200k in 3yrs)

Size and garden. But worth it - life is so easy with everything within walking distance and children getting older and more independent. Bedrooms are small but we do have good storage.
I would not go for small bedrooms AND no storage as well.

Thinking about it there are many. No utility room, bedrooms not as big as we'd like & further from work than we would have preferred. But it does have a huge amount of things we did want, it is detached, has a kitchen we can eat in, dining room, study, larger garden than we expected, a huge garage & parking for 3 cars. We love the house & its location in a new development is much nicer than moving into a random house in an established area!

DH saw the house today & wants to put an offer in.

Things it has that we want - 5th bedroom (separate to main house), annexe potential (for grannies/Airbnb), lots of workshops/sheds, big garden (& stable - previous owner kept a pony), perfect village location for primary & secondary schools, might not need two cars any more, detached, utility room, within our budget without stretching too much so can afford to extend small bedrooms.

Bad things - small bedrooms in main house, traffic noise sometimes/in some places.

Really bad things - I actually really want a Georgian rectory with 10 beds & a swimming pool.
