Stylinit · 05/03/2019 20:01

Just under 25%. That feels enough for me!

tisonlymeagain · 05/03/2019 20:04

About 11% of joint gross income.

LookingOptimistic · 05/03/2019 20:09

Current 18% of joint net income, soon to be 22% though after we move.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/03/2019 20:10

12% of nett.

TeuchterTraveller · 05/03/2019 20:11

25% net joint income, no other debts

Bigpizzalover · 05/03/2019 20:12

22% of net income.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 05/03/2019 20:14

Ours is about 1/6th of net salary. Buy other bills push the direct debits side of things up to half our income.

Decormad38 · 05/03/2019 20:15

23%

JustHereForThePooStories · 05/03/2019 20:15

23% of net income.

Decormad38 · 05/03/2019 20:16

23% of net income

Gamechanger12e3 · 05/03/2019 20:16

7% on my take home pay, i was a first time buyer and bought on my own so didn't want any large financial outgoings as im solely dependent on myself. Also I'm on a good salary so even though 7% sounds small its actually a decent ish sum of money. I might start overpaying next year when my home improvements are done.

Sammy867 · 05/03/2019 20:18

15%. we bought last year and effectively factored in if the lowest paid of us was the only one working and the highest paid lost their job or became ill, could we still afford to live where we live and afford everything else. that was the amount we looked for when buying (note that wasn’t the maximum we could borrow but what we felt the monthly repayments would be adequate for us should someone lose their job)

WineGummyBear · 05/03/2019 20:22

27%

notanothernam · 05/03/2019 20:22

Technically 14% of net pay but we are overpaying so in reality it's 22%

CheerioHunter · 05/03/2019 20:23

There's only me working, till 2 years ago when it needed refixing it was approx 40%
Now its approx 30%
But I over pay it every month so its nearer 55%

BambooBoobam · 05/03/2019 20:25

29% of net pay (joint)

howhowhow · 05/03/2019 20:25

42% of my salary which is currently 75% of what I normally earn. My dh's salary on top. But he's crap with money so I like to be in charge of paying the mortgage.

dementedma · 05/03/2019 20:28

Less than 10% of joint net income but that’s after overpayments.

hinely · 05/03/2019 20:30

My pay varies quite a bit due to unpredictable overtime, the mortgage was 44% this month as there wasn't much overtime. I overpay in order to save in the long run.

Nandocushion · 05/03/2019 20:34

17% of net

WishIwas19again · 05/03/2019 20:38

16% of our joint take home pay.

When I worked for the local authority in a former job our 'rule of thumb' advice for customers was to look for housing that cost less than 1/3 of their income. Anyone paying more than 2/3 of their income on housing costs we used to consider weren't in sustainable housing and help them find alternative accommodation (in case of relationship breakdown etc).

rednsparkley · 05/03/2019 20:41

Ours is 6.5% of our monthly income

boredboredboredboredbored · 05/03/2019 20:42

Mines 25% of my overall income including maintenance from exh. When the maintenance stops and the dc go to uni I will be moving to a cheaper area and be in the fortunate position of buying a house with cash.

My mortgage scares me!

YahBasic · 05/03/2019 20:46

Not bought yet but we will be FTB looking at 13-14% of gross income.

The plan is for us to overpay while we’re both working full-time, with the option to reduce once we’ve started our family.

Pinkginxx · 05/03/2019 20:52

Single income, shared housing.
£202 on mortgage
£310 on rent/service charge
£1900 take home
So higher percentage on rent/mortgage than a lot on this thread but I find it very manageable and life quite comfortable Smile
