Is there such a thing as a lovely sofa bed?

I would love to use my spare bedroom as a tv room but I also want to have a genuinely comfortable spare double for visitors. Is there such a thing?? Any thoughts gratefully received...

Get one with a sprung, rather than a foam, mattress if you're looking for comfort. I would day to look for a mattress depth of about 10cm, and at least 135 cm wide (if two people will be sleeping in it). That is what my 15 year old Relyon (I a not sure whether Relyon still exists) has and it is by far the comfiest sofa bed i have ever slept on.

this is fantastic 👍 we have it in the front room as a sofa but also changes in to bed for when any e visits. Is brilliant as both. Me and dd been sleeping on it for the last four nights ☺

I’ve skeot on a very comfortable ikea ektorp sofa bed before but they don’t do them any more.

I’ve just bought an ikea Farlov as it had a thick, full sized double mattress and was comfy as a sofa.

Hoppahouse · 23/02/2019 08:47

This one. It also has storage for bedding. Highly recommend.

I guess you could also get a decent mattress topper if the sofa bed felt lacking in comfort.

SwimmingJustKeepSwimming · 23/02/2019 08:56

Oh do they not do ektorp anymore?! Thats the one I was recommending, it's still really good to sleep on. I guess other Ikea ones could be similat? Ours came with a thin topper which helps!

I'm seriously considering this one

www.funkyfuton.co.uk/sofa-beds-with-storage/95-devon-small-sofabed.html

It appears to be pretty solid, plus I could pop a proper matters on it if I left it in its bed configuration

And it seems to have reasonable price

GreenOliveOrBlackOlive · 23/02/2019 18:46

I’d recommend you see it in rl before you buy. I had a futon sofa bed years ago. It drove me crazy. As a sofa it was always sliding and slumping everywhere. The minute anyone sat on it it looked awful. I was constantly hauling it up and straightening it out and it was so heavy 😬 I gave it away in the end.

We have a fabulous one - g plan - I think it's discontinued but some places still have stock. It's enormous, though. www.smithstherink.co.uk/upholstery-c26/sofa-ranges-c31/g-plan-vintage-54-sofa-bed-c481/g-plan-vintage-fifty-four-sofa-bed-p5007

I think it's better to have a cracking mattress topper (one of the inches deep type ones) than try to get a good sofabed mattress.

Mind you our Clic clac sofabed is pretty comfortable - as long as you leave it up in sofa position Confused. The ridge in the middle is the uncomfortable bit.

I like my M&S one, I think it looks stylish and is pretty comfortable for a sofa bed. It's a few years old so can't link it, but they might be worth a look at still?

I have slept on this one from Innovation Living and it is really lovely and very comfortable, they do similar designs at John Lewis.

Not cheap but they’re very stylish AND comfy

One of our sofas in our lounge is a sofa bed . It's comfy .., dfs can make sofa beds out of most of their sofas so imagine other places can too .
