Is that price decent or too high for a new vaiilant (like for like), plus 1 replacement rad, new copper pipes (ours are wrong size) and a thermostat?

I think it's too high, but can't judge as it's for a Vaillant? 🤔

A Vailant Combi boiler is about £1000. Then add fitting like pipes, flies thermostat -May be £400. Then add labour, 1-2 days depending on complexity.

LondonMischief · 21/11/2018 13:45

Flues...

Wavyheaded · 21/11/2018 15:04

Thanks, so do you think that's a fair price? Spoken to so many diff plumbers & they all say diff things. This guy seemed nice though..

we paid 2k to have a new boiler - moved location and more power... so looks expensive - boiler itself is 800-100

halcyondays · 21/11/2018 15:19

Maybe get some quotes from other plumbers?

NameChanger22 · 21/11/2018 15:21

That sounds expensive. I got a quote this year for £1,600 - boiler, installation and 10 year guarantee.

AndThereSaw · 21/11/2018 15:22

I paid 3k 2 years ago.
3800 inc vat prob about right.

ginghamstarfish · 21/11/2018 15:25

Seems high, would expect to pay no more than £2k max.

Bath9000 · 21/11/2018 15:30

That’s too high , prob about 2k max as pp said

LondonMischief · 21/11/2018 15:31

Yes should be about £2k to replace most existing boilers. You can google your model number and find out how much it cost from a plumbers merchant. No doubt a fitter would get a trade discount on that. Upto 2 days labour, cost depends where you are, but assume £250 a day and you won’t be far out.

anniehm · 21/11/2018 15:31

We paid £2100 for a similar amount of work, not London (makes a difference)

strawberrypenguin · 21/11/2018 15:32

Depends on the work they need to do. Ours just cost about that but we needed to have our flue moved and a few other semi complicated bits.

dingit · 21/11/2018 15:37

We paid £3k in February, with some extra pipe work.

fireplacetiles · 21/11/2018 15:51

We paid £1800 with fitting for a new Valliant combi swap like for like fitted as an emergency on xmas eve, so I think that quote is about 1k too high!

WoodBurnerBabe · 21/11/2018 15:55

I paid £4100 but we needed a new flue as well which was quite a piece of work to do

Thiswayorthatway · 21/11/2018 15:56

Including VAT? Where are you based? We paid 3.5k i Cheshire recently.

JuniperBeer · 21/11/2018 16:00

Slightly off track but we bought a new boiler from an outlet off eBay. They get all the cosmetically damaged boilers from plum base etc. And resell them. So the front had a big scratch, but the boiler only cost us £200!

vickibee · 21/11/2018 16:03

We paid 1400 for a new vailliant conventional boiler, the boiler was 900 and fitting 500 (2) days

Bunnybigears · 21/11/2018 16:05

Are you just changing from one combi to another? If so seems high. We paid £3000 to change from a back boiler to combi and that was a lot of work.

iIcouldsleepforaweek · 21/11/2018 16:07

Ours was 2900 last year and it was top of the range so I think that's a bit high

ShowOfHands · 21/11/2018 16:08

Two years ago we paid 2.5k for a combi boiler, 10 rads, copper piping and all labour.

Talia99 · 21/11/2018 19:05

That does seem high. I paid that for new Worcester Bosch in a different room to the old boiler with new piping through walls to connect to the old system plus a new flue.

Have you got other quotes? If they are all the same, maybe there is something tricky that they are all taking into account. Alternatively, is it British Gas? They always quote way over the cost of a competent local gas fitter.

PickAChew · 21/11/2018 19:09

Are they replacing all the pipes? Throughout the house, not just to the boiler? If so, that's a lot of work.

It's best to get another quote, anyhow.

somewhereovertherain · 21/11/2018 19:26

Should add ours was a Worcester Bosch and moved from kitchen to under stairs for )2k
