A slight name change for me, as I'm clearly not moving this year. Hmm Well, I am, but not into the house I'm buying.

Went to the development today, had a chat with the girls in the office & updated them. Hopefully we will be exchanging contracts next week should all go to plan. We found a nice house to rent, but its so bloody expensive I'm petrified! As long as we complete within our 6 month rental contract then all will be well, but if we don't then things will get ridiculously expensive! Confused

Oof, good luck @Ramsey

Well, I increased my offer on Monday and have heard nothing since! EA was off yesterday but thought I’d have heard today....manic at work so didn’t have a chance to call but will tomorrow 😡

Ramsey1989 · 09/01/2019 21:22

@Fleabag123 Ah thats frustrating, all the waiting is sucg a pain - i just want a stress free good nights sleep which i havent had since October after we lost our buyer ._.

I don't kniw why this guy is pissing around over £4k difference from our previous offer; he doesnt need the money, its just going to sit in his bank or he will buy a luxury yacht or something!

Its not worth anymore than we offered; its not been updated in 10/15 years, its electrics/ fuse box are old and not up to UK safety standard/ there is a squirrals nest in the eves/ ventilation needs to be put in for woodburner to be safe/all wooden windows (9) plus doors (3) need to be repainted to prevent rot, sone failed double glazed units need fixing/ replaceling/ carpet in hallway is disgusting/ laminate through downstairs is worn & scratched, there is rusty light fixture in bathroom - honestly the list can go on....and we didnt offer lots lower given all this knowledge and the faxt it will take thousands to fix.

happychange · 09/01/2019 21:28

We have an offer! Hallelujah! It's 10k less than what we want but I'm inclined to accept.. pending if we can get a reduction on the property we like. Could we ask the buyer to wait till the weekend before we accept?

Ramsey1989 · 09/01/2019 21:34

@happychange You could do. We provisionally accepted offer on our place which is dependent on our offer on onward purchase being accepted or we would have nowhere to go. As our offer is £3k less than previous and we also have to pay a further £3k extra in EA fees, we decreased original offer by £4k but guy is being stingy.

So you could do something like that. Congrats on the offer though :)

Fleabag123 · 09/01/2019 22:16

Congrats @happychange!

@Ramsey - I feel your pain. My vendors are quibbling over similar amounts of money, probably just to make the point!

Dealing with unreasonable people must be one of the worst bits of this horrible process!

WitchDancer · 10/01/2019 10:09

Happy days- our fixtures and fittings list has arrived, plus the solicitors checklist re the mortgage. I think we're pretty much ready to go. The only trouble is I can't phone the solicitor to ask as I've lost my voice. 😂

UninspiringUserName · 10/01/2019 10:55

Hi all,

Great to see that there's some movement on here. We're still here, still waiting for someone to come and fall in love with our house...

We've reduced the price of our house by £10k, so we'll see if that generates much interest. We've got a viewing on Saturday, our first since early Nov, so fingers tightly crossed.

The house we want is currently off the market as the vendors didn't want viewings over the winter (they'd said they'd still sell if we had an offer, but otherwise it was being 'held' for us until Feb/March), but it'll be going back on in the next few weeks, so then we'll be back to square one of living in fear of someone beating us to it. This whole process is not good for the stress levels...

Good luck everyone, here's hoping for wonderful results for everyone.

WitchDancer · 10/01/2019 13:01

Fingers crossed for Saturday for you Uninspiring

WitchDancer · 10/01/2019 15:47

Whoop whoop - we've had the call to sign the contract from the solicitor. That's exchange isn't it?

UninspiringUserName · 10/01/2019 16:02

Wooooo indeed WitchDancer. Once the contracts are signed, then they can exchange. Good news indeed!

We've just had a call to say we have a second viewing booked for Sat am, so fingers crossed twice.

WitchDancer · 10/01/2019 16:12

🤞🤞

sandybayley · 10/01/2019 16:20

@WitchDancer - amazing news. When are you likely to complete?

Things are moving along for us. I was feeling a bit better intimidated by our vendors assertion that we must exchange within four weeks and complete after 30 April. They've repeated this on the Memorandum of Sale but after having spoken to our EA, their EA and our solicitor I'm reassured this is posturing and as things progress they will need to accommodate the rest of the chain's wishes. I'm already getting the sense that that at least one of the couple things is an 'alpha'.

DH has found a great 10 year fix deal for us and we've got agreement in principle.

Plus I've turned off the Zoopla, Rightmove alerts to leave room in my inbox for house admin emails!

WitchDancer · 10/01/2019 16:27

It would be ideal at the end of January, but in all honesty we're flexible. We're in rental contract until the end of February but wanted a crossover between leaving rental and going into the new house

TiddleTaddleTat · 11/01/2019 13:32

Little movement on our sale, I blame my solicitor. Have been chasing for ages and he is often unavailable. However he sent me several enquiries yesterday which I have quickly responded to so hoping we are not nearing exchange. If we don't complete by the end of the month we are liable for another 6 months service charges so I'm keen to hurry this up!

TiddleTaddleTat · 11/01/2019 13:32

*now nearing exchange. Clearly.

alifelessordinary · 11/01/2019 13:47

Fingers crossed you get completion by end of the month @tiddletattletat.

Solicitors are so frustrating and I agree difficult to get hold of. I've got to the point of just calling or emailing every other day and making a nuisance of myself!

WitchDancer · 11/01/2019 13:52

I would tell your solicitor Tiddle - I told mine exactly what date I was working to and 🤞 they seem to be doing their best to make it happen

Ramsey1989 · 11/01/2019 13:53

@TiddleTaddleTat Good luck and i hope thats all thats left so you can exchange on your sale.

My previous solicitor was hard to get hold of; she would also always talk to me in a condesending manor like i was being a stupid impatient child, so for the second sale i ditched her and got a new one who is a lot cheaper and so much better!

Well we went to see house we want to continue to purchase again last night as its been vacant for 3 months; its in such good condition, and we really still want it so we bottled it on trying to put through the downward scale offers of £328 to £326 to nil and instead stuck at £328.

Also spoke to selling agent and asked if they could try and find out what the owner wants from us to accept an offer cause we dont want to lose it; but its no use as even agents said he was being rediculous as he should just take the offer, they dont think any of the 4 viewings he has had will offer and said regardless he is going to wait till monday to make his decision.

Meanwhile our buyers are working ti a completion date of 11th march so we gonna be homeless but at least crappy sale bit will be done and dusted!

happychange · 11/01/2019 15:33

We countered our buyer with an addition £5k, hoping she would say yes but let's see. Otherwise we will accept anyway Wink worth a shot I suppose! As long as she doesn't walk away!

We saw two houses today, one big but small garden, and the other smaller but bigger garden. Sigh.. which one would you go for??

Ramsey1989 · 11/01/2019 15:38

@happychange bigger house because i dont live in the garden! I have no kids either so i guess its not as important to me.

katycb · 11/01/2019 16:40

We are putting ours on this week, hope to upsize so our twins can have their own rooms. E.A came round to do photos and video tour today. Bit nervous as last time we tried to sell was specarulaly bad timing (think the middle of the economic down turn) and we ended up keeping as an unexpected rental property! Fingers crossed it goes better this time!

Fleabag123 · 11/01/2019 18:29

Ugh. My vendors haven’t come back with an answer after upping the offer.

That was on Monday. EA said he’d spoken to them and answered all their questions and they were “thinking about it”. But then didn’t come back to him. He’s baffled by their behaviour as most people don’t take anywhere near this long! He was meant to follow up with them today but I’ve not heard anything back so assume it’s game over.

Back to the drawing board. Good luck to everyone else. I hope I’ll be back when we find somewhere else

alifelessordinary · 11/01/2019 18:45

@fleabag123 it may not be game over. Our vendor took over a week to get back to us, sure he was trying to play some sort of mind games, but we got there in the end. Fingers crossed it may be the same for you!

Ramsey1989 · 11/01/2019 18:45

@Fleabag123 You never know; through this process there seems to have been a bunch of people that just seem to 'think about it' forever and a day, I honestly don't understand it - you either accept or you don't and nobody needs a week to work that one out.

We upped our offer on Monday also; yet here we are no further along and not knowing which way it will go, not to mention the vendors own agents are getting hacked off with him and clearly don't understand the guy.

PerpetuallyPessimistic · 11/01/2019 18:53

Thought a name change was in order!

I hope by Monday we both have good news @Fleabag123 but I ran out of patience months ago.
