Hi,

I am looking into help to buy and would like any recommendations of safe areas to live in which have good transport links to London.

Is this even possible?

I am a single person with no children.

Thanks

what about something like this?

www.findproperly.co.uk/property-for-sale-london/price/0-150000/station/north-harrow#page=1&prop=19913388&view=%22GRID%22

info about the area:

all the best x

150k including the 40% help to buy?
Nothing at that price... shared ownership is probably the only realistic option but generally are very overpriced and poor deals. Like the one the person above posted in pinner

this is a studio flat but its within budget and has a help to buy option. from what i can gather it is in a safe area.

(it has also just been listed, but i think it will go quickly so if you like the look of it it may be worth booking a viewing)

shared ownership in a nice spot - www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-56603664.html

studio nearby - worth an offer?
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-73945292.html

also worth looking around Croydon, good links into London and could get something in your budget.

So about 275k?

sugarlost · 17/09/2018 14:56

Thanks again for help everyone :). I will look into these areas.

With help to buy I would get a loan of up to 40% of the purchase price of a new build in London and 20% outside London so yes around 275K if I take this route in London.
I need to factor in service charge and I would like some savings as a safety net.

The help to buy route would mean I will have more money and more options and maybe nicer areas to choose from if I spend more.

I feel there is hope when before I felt there was none so it’s a good sign!

You also need to factor in travel costs - some areas of Kent cost £4-5k per year for a season ticket in and out of London

sugarlost · 17/09/2018 15:52

Thanks-I forgot to include travel when writing but I have realised depending on location travel can be costly.

There are lots of commuter Kings Ferry coaches from Kent/Medway. Cheaper than train.
