Anybody in the market for a lovely 2 bed near Cambridge?

Absolute bargain at only £295,000! Hmm

I live locally and that is stupidly overpriced.

borlottibeans · 13/07/2018 15:03

Klutzy I love that your local alternative has its own separate garage that's been converted into an annexe included in the cost!

SoyDora · 13/07/2018 15:16

How ridiculous! It’s not even priced according to the market in that area.
We bought our large 4 bed, 3 reception room, 3 bathroom, double garage, large garden and drive for 4 cars house for less than that 9 months ago!

JohnnyKarate · 13/07/2018 16:59

I just want to know if the estate agent actually recommended that price.

SlumdogMummy · 13/07/2018 17:07

If it is the house that JohnnyKarate posted they only paid £230k for the whole house (and garage!) 10 years ago Shock

Oliversmumsarmy · 13/07/2018 17:10

I did notice it was unfurnished.

I think you would have to do a big trip to IKEA and choose folding chairs and flat pack furniture but I can't see how you would get a sofa in

Bluntness100 · 13/07/2018 17:36

I think you'd have to take a fence panel out and go via the house that owns it, through the patio doors.

reallybadidea · 13/07/2018 17:37

You'd have to be insane to buy that.

This a much nicer, bigger house in a better, more central area for considerably less money.

SleepFreeZone · 13/07/2018 17:43

The Cambridge housing market is London prices at the moment. Good for us just outside Cambridge but not great if I wanted to get any closer.

JohnnyKarate · 13/07/2018 17:44

That's one of those shared ownership properties reallybadidea. Although probably better to own 40% of that than 10% of your new neighbours unwanted property.

OP posts:
SleepFreeZone · 13/07/2018 17:45

That’s a fucking ridiculous price for a converted garage though. Bet they’ll bloody sell it!

JohnnyKarate · 13/07/2018 17:46

I really want to go and view it

OP posts:
FabulousSophie · 13/07/2018 18:31

It is a glorified shed, and it is not even in Cambridge! It must be a joke, but then again the entire property market is a joke right now. Current prices are unsustainable when a shed can only be afforded by a wealthy cash buyer.

QuiteUnfitBit · 13/07/2018 18:43

I really want to go and view it
Please please please do - and report back!!!!

Squirreltamer · 13/07/2018 18:52

God...
For a little more you can live in one of the semi houses around the corner and convert the garage into your own chalet to live in. Rent out the house to suckers who don’t see the benefits of chalet living.

ReservoirDogs · 13/07/2018 19:24

Reallybadidea - the one you posted in Trumpington is only for 40% share though! So not cheaper

reallybadidea · 13/07/2018 19:27

Yeah, I didn't see that (and wondered why it was so cheap). Still, much as I dislike shared ownership I'd rather have 40% of that house than 100% of a garage 😂

Arewehomeyet · 13/07/2018 21:29

I can’t believe they got planning permission for that :(

QuiteUnfitBit · 13/07/2018 22:06

Arewehomeyet That's what I wondered, because they'd surely they'd have lost parking spaces. Surely someone on Mumsnet must be invested enough to check online. Grin

JobHunting4 · 13/07/2018 22:27

There's a 5 bed detached with a double garage 2 miles away from me for 290k. The garage alone is double the size of that "bungalow" 😂😂

HebeMumsnet · 13/07/2018 22:57

Evening folks. Just popping by to remind everyone to be polite and civil about other people's properties wherever possible. We have actually had contact from the Mumsnetter who is the owner of this property, who's been very sporting about all this to be fair, but we did just think it worth reminding everyone that behind every Rightmove link there's a human being trying to sell their house, so please do just keep that in the back of your mind when posting. Thank you!

AlpacaLypse · 13/07/2018 23:16

oooh if you're on here owner of this property... please... WHERE IS THE FRONT DOOR????

Nuttyella7 · 13/07/2018 23:24

This thread actually made me laugh. I will say though this is big business these days. However that price tag does seem steep considering. Oh well if people can sell antiques that serve no practical purpose, for millions then this is still liveable Square ft property that would only increase in value.

starzig · 13/07/2018 23:29

I think it's quite nice a bit overpriced (though not as much as others see to think) but bungalows are always more expensive. You can't really compare different towns to what you can get. If you work in Cambridge you can hardly live in Newcastle for example. Cambridge is expensive.
