I think we might be glad they've made a boo boo!! At the mo all the walls are just in strong white until we know how we want it. The kitchen itself is going to to white and putty grey and the flooring probably country oak Karndean. It's funny, when I started I wanted dark blue kitchen with dark walls....have done a complete 180!

BirdyandBee · 06/11/2018 22:03

@bobkate I wanted grey outside and white inside but unfortunately our manufacturers only do one colour ☹️
I love the fact it looks lovely and bright inside

bobkate · 06/11/2018 22:25

birdy it does look bright doesn't it! Shame that you can't have what you'd like...nothing seems simple in this extension business does it Confused

We had to pay xtra if we wanted white inside so check u haven’t paid for the mistake!!!

4yearsnosleep · 06/11/2018 23:59

I actually really love the white

PostNotInHaste · 07/11/2018 07:09

I really like the white and think in time grey will look dated, not that it matters.

mum2015 · 07/11/2018 08:28

Bobkate,
Love the doors and skylights. With white inside the skylight, white internally on doors look good as they are sort of together.

MyNameIsJane · 07/11/2018 17:25

I think white inside is good, Bobkate.

bobkate · 07/11/2018 17:50

Hurrah...also just had an email to say they'll knock money off because it was wrong... White it is GrinGrin thanks all for the comments x

Threesocks · 07/11/2018 18:07

Our windows arrived today - hooray!! They are wooden made to measure and match our existing windows (old house).
Celebration were short lived when we realised that two of the windows are the wrong size despite the window company coming out to measure up for them themselves - grrrrr.
They've taken them back and have promised them done by early next week!!

I am feeling totally over it all now and just want it all done. The builder reckons they will be done on all the internals so we can move back in downstairs at the start of December - not feeling very confident though - pass the gin!

4yearsnosleep · 07/11/2018 19:42

Great news Bobkate, not so good @Threesocks 😩

bobkate · 07/11/2018 19:56

Oh threesocks i feel your pain Sad will keep all crossed for you for next week.

BirdyandBee · 08/11/2018 23:25

We’ve got all our architrave and skirting boards in. We’ve got the front window, patio doors and the tiler in next week. Once the window is in everyone will have to start coming through the house 😩
The week after our turn and pivot doors will finally be going in- so bloody excited!

BirdyandBee · 08/11/2018 23:25

@threesocks how bloody frustrating for you!

Threesocks · 09/11/2018 06:22

Fantastic progress @BirdyandBee
We are inching forwards and keeping everything crossed.
Plumber is coming today and then the plan is for the floors to be levelled and plastering finished off ... window openings boarded over in places though due to to window cock up 🙈

Catquest1 · 09/11/2018 13:58

We had a slight delay yesterday due to roadworks down our road but the concrete is now in the footings Grin

Big decision to made this weekend over the bricks - we cant get an exact match due to the orginal bricks being imperial measurements and a slightly odd colour so we either go for the same size and marginally paler or a better colour match and very slightly smaller. For me this is probably the most important decision yet - get this wrong and itll be wrong forever

Whattodowithaminute · 09/11/2018 14:54

catquest bricks will change colour as they age anyway-you’ll never be able to change their size... that’s my thoughts...!

Catquest1 · 09/11/2018 15:46

Ive got samples so im going to canvas opinion over the weekend i might try putting a photo on here!!

Its not helped that the bigger paler ones look great round the back but the smaller ones look better at the front.

Decision needs to be made by monday. So no pressure Confused

Linguaphile · 09/11/2018 18:47

Ooh wow Catquest that’s a hard decision. If it was me I’d go for the same size. Can you possibly paint the brick exterior so it’s all uniform??

Linguaphile · 09/11/2018 18:51

Lovely progress Birdy! Sorry about the windows threesocks, it is so frustrating when they get big things like that wrong and it delays everything. :( But better to fix it now and get it right, painful as it is to have to wait longer. I totally get being over everything, it’s so exhausting.

Bobkate I like the white! We have the same with dark outside and white inside, not because we chose it but because they just installed the windows without asking us what we wanted. Confused But actually it’s turned out well and I’m really pleased with the fact it’s nice and bright and is also cohesive with the skirting boards.

Catquest1 · 09/11/2018 19:50

Originally we looked into having the extension rendered but cost wise it pushed the budget a bit far. When we've had work done in the past (conservatory and the chimney) islt hasnt been an exact match but they are much smaller areas and noone sees them much so it hasnt mattered as much.

But the extension is to the side of the existing house and obviously much bigger so it will be more obvious.

DustandRubble · 10/11/2018 12:34

Fantastic progress pics everyone, I love seeing it come together.

Catquest I would probably decide based on what looks best from the front of the house as kerb appeal counts for a lot. You spend a lot of time walking up to your front door, the better it looks the happier you feel.

Big progress here. The extension is plastered! The end is in sight. Walls will get a mist coat and painted next week. Then the floor can go down. Pics attached.

dust looks good! We are at a very similar point to you, plastered the extension this week, UFH going in today and concrete for floor is poured in Tuesday. Really does feel like we will get there soon!

Threesocks · 10/11/2018 13:38

It must be a day for progress .... we might be windowless, but the screed floor in the first part of the extension is going down as we speak ..
