What would the original flooring look like in a 1920s or 1930s house?

Looking online, I can see a lot of black and white but I think that's more Victorian? I still like the black and white but I'm wondering what would have been more likely. Has anyone got their original floor still?

1930s terraced here. Parquet throughout downstairs, except for the kitchen, which is quarry tile.

My friend lives in a 30s semi which has a lovely polished terazzo hallway. It’s gorgeous, but very hard on accident prone toddlers’ noggins.

Just seen PigletJohn’s photo - his is posher than my friend’s terrazzo, which is a plain pale green with dark border.

I grew up in a house with Minton tiles pretty much everywhere downstairs.

I'm now in a 25yr old semi with laminate/Lino and carpet.

Hardly the same Grin

Loving all of these floors

1934; original parquet here, beautiful soft pine, I don't think it will take another sanding and resealing though, there's not enough depth. I love it though.

I would KILL for a hallway with a parquet floor. (Weeps gently.)

My mom's house was 1923 and has a black and white tiled hall with terracotta tiles in the kitchen and floor boards in the living room and dining room 😊

We have stripped and varnished pine boards in our 1934 semi and you can see the remains of a very dark stain in the grain and down the sides of some of the boards.
