We're going to need to be doing a lot of painting when we move into our new house. I'm looking for some beautiful warm white or greyish neutrals for the living/halls/stairwells and then would like something quite strong but soothing to have in our kitchen, on the TV/fireplace wall in the lounge, and in our bedroom.

Inspire me! What have you got on your walls?

This is F&B manor house grey in our old house.

Off white in the open plan living and dining room. A very subtly warm white with a hint of green (in this house anyhow. I have seen it look more creamy in different lights). It was painted nearly ten years ago and has withstood two toddlers and still looks very good.

Dare I utter the words? Johnston paints, if you take in your F&b card, take the f&B colour code and input it into their magic computer and produce the same colour paints for £30 for 5litres. We did this for our decorator yesterday - (code 2006, shark white!) It looks fabulous / it's not as super chalky flat as F&B paint but it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Delighted. Did this with our kitchen too - Ammonite and dd's bedroom walls. Just a thought!

@Worldsworstcook we're doing exactly the same! I don't want a chalky finish as it's for the kitchen family room. Plus I need 5l of one colour and 10 of the other!

@4yrsnosleep

Ouch! That would be really expensive - I'm delighted with the Johnstons paints. And because you can get different finishes too inc washable it's ideal for any room.

What colours are you thinking if?

4yearsnosleep · 23/02/2018 18:27

Our island will be Drawing Room Blue, so the outer wall with the window and door will be blue to match and then Calluna for the rest of the room I think. Although my sample just looks grey, it's quite a surprisingly warm shade. I looked at Wimborne white, but white just felt too cold in such a large room

happytobemrsg · 23/02/2018 18:30

We have pavilion grey in DS' room. Everyone said it would be too dark but with white furniture &splashes of blue / darker grey it's really warming.

In our lounge we have blackened. Absolutely love it. We accessorised with copper. If we have another DC I want their nursery to be blackened.

@4yearsnosleep

Just checked the colour card, they are lovely colours. I'd love to be more adventurous with colours but alway find myself a shrinking violet!

This is shaded white.

Does anyone by any chance have a front door in Railings? We are having a new front door and this is the colour I've chosen. Now I'm having a wobble. I would like a very dark grey/black but now I'm worried that there is too much blue in it. Door is south facing.

Thanks everyone for all the pics of your beautiful homes and paint choices! We’ve gone for All White in the halls and entryway (it’s a v modern house), Ammonite in the open plan kitchen/dining/living area, and Cornforth White in the bedrooms. Watch this space for photos once the painters clear out this weekend. 😳

Just an FYI - if you're near Leeds, Seagulls paint will color match. They're a repurposing, zero plastic paint store way cheaper than F&B with great values and ethics.

Stiffkey in our bedroom, colour matched from Johnstones. Was really not sure at all as it was going on but rather love it now.

My living room is Calke Green (well, colour matched at B&Q). I love it!
