We're going to need to be doing a lot of painting when we move into our new house. I'm looking for some beautiful warm white or greyish neutrals for the living/halls/stairwells and then would like something quite strong but soothing to have in our kitchen, on the TV/fireplace wall in the lounge, and in our bedroom.

Inspire me! What have you got on your walls?

String in two bedrooms , shaded white in living room. (Does what is says on the tin- is entirely neutral and meant to look like a white wall in shade from the sun. Goes with anything

I have Cornforth white on the dresser (my fave) and Wevet on the walls & ceiling.

Ds bedroom is pavilion grey. In my lounge I had tin of railings left over so used this on my chimney breast.

Look at Little Greene paints. Sinilar price point and heritage colours but soooo much better quality. Barely need a second coat and really rich colour. Hated farrow and ball to pain with. So watery it needed 4 or 5 coats (over white!)

TheBakeryQueen · 18/02/2018 18:20

This is Mizzle, the colour changes with the light, but I'd say it's a green with blue tones.....

Light Blue walls and Slipper Satin units in my east facing kitchen. Shaded white on an annex of this room.
French Grey in one bedroom and Elephants breath in another. Pointing on my wardrobes. White Tie in the bathroom.
I love F&B paints. Ive just painted the kitchen of my new holiday home in Little Greene French Grey mid and its lovely. Walls are French Grey pale and are a little too pale for me.

(Gulp) about to have setting plaster in the bathroom...

BarbaraOcumbungles · 18/02/2018 18:34

We had our hall painted in Perbeck Stone and I hated it so very much it’s now perbeck stone with various coloured patches on it and is awaiting me having the time to paint it yellow.

I am so not a grey person.

Another Mizzle which is one of my favourites.

Aurea · 18/02/2018 18:37

Sorry here it is. Mizzle.

I had a lot of White Tie in my last place, which is a lovely soft white.

SnackMaBitchUp · 19/02/2018 13:51

Great White, it's on the pinks page. I love it. Did the whole downstairs with it and I think it looks better in the dark areas, like stairwell, than in the brighter areas.

Snowglobes · 21/02/2018 16:57

first & second photos East facing room and third photo triple aspect east, south & west - walls in clinch, woodwork in Joas white and ceilings in slipper satin down to picture rails. We did all downstairs rooms in these colours but children’s bedrooms in different F&B - photos to follow...

Snowglobes Never mind your paint, look at your lovely home.

My dh painted our front porch in Little Greene Bone China Blue. It has been much admired as in some lights it is blue, in others grey. He put on matching silver knockers etc. Its very nice, but he said he hated doing it because he found the paint so thick he had to work very quickly. Its been on three years this year and still looks good. V expensive though.

We did speak to the shop we bought it from (they offer painting and decorating services themselves) and they said they had had no issues with LG so perhaps dh was just used to runnier, thinner paint because LG exterior paint is oil based.

Great to look at the pics of how the colours look in real homes.

4yearsnosleep · 21/02/2018 20:50

Oooh @Snowglobes we're looking at Calluna for our extension and it just looks grey from the sample pot and almost matches our grey units, but yours is definitely more lilac. I find their colour changing properties great, but really difficult when trying to pick paint!

Olive in the kitchen and stiffkey blue in the living room

Our living room and kitchen are both Elephant's Breath on the walls, Slipper Satin on the ceiling and Wimborne White on the woodwork. Dining room is Slipper Satin walls and ceiling and Wimborne White on the woodwork.

First floor study / spare room is Wimborne White all over. Bathroom is very small with a lot of tiles but bits of wall are WWhite and the vanity unit and door are in Pitch Black.

I'd like to do our bedroom in one of their pink shades.

I'm currently in a dilemma over what colour to paint our very dark hallway.

Snowglobes · 21/02/2018 23:23

@4yearsnosleep Calluna is definitely a pale blue/grey Heather type of colour. Gorgeous colour though. I think Cornforth white is a grey white as is ammonite - my girls now want those! There's one inbetween ammonite and purbeck that’s defo grey with no lilac - can’t recall the name though!

It's ok, I want the mauve grey color; I was disappointed how plain grey it was!

InTheRoseGarden · 22/02/2018 05:19

Does anyone have Yellowcake? I'm wondering whether to use it for (baby) DD's room (white oak furniture).

WoodhouseMoor · 22/02/2018 05:34

We've just had three bedrooms painted with Hicks & Weatherburn's paint (decorator - best paint I've ever used). Covered a really bright pink in two coats. Small company in Leeds but free overnight shipping. Highly recommend a look
