Do you have a quooker?

Thinking of getting a quooker fusion, do you have one? If so, how are you finding it in terms of versatility. Have you found that you would like a separate hot and cold tap or does the quooker do the lot for you?

Yes, not really worth the money for me. Has a metallic taste and we now use the kettle as well for tea and coffee

I would never, ever go back to a kettle and do not have the metallic problem mentioned above.

I would consider a separate cold tap as we've had a couple of incidents of cold water running warm initially because of feedback or something. I think the plumber has tweaked it so it's fine now but I'd probably go for the two taps given time again.

Love mine. Love the counter space we save. Haven't noticed a metallic taste. Though it does need resetting periodically. That can be annoying when you're rushing out the door.

Someone on another thread mentioned getting it serviced...sounds like another hassle & expense.

I’m still considering getting one, the kitchen here is so small & there’s not much bench or cupboard space

I have to buy a new tap anyway, so that’s a few hundred quid spent either way. I’m just not sure about the servicing, taste & wondering about how healthy they are, on another thread someone mentioned she wouldn’t get one because she thought that you risked getting ill from them.

Absolutely love mine - I'd never go back to a kettle.

Beware of cheaper imitations though. Apparently Quooker have a patent that ensures the water comes out as close to boiling as you can get. Other makes don't

I have the fusion but not convinced. Drinks don’t feel as hot to me (ie, go cold sooner than with kettle boiled). Normal hot water (for washing up etc) has very poor flow but both installer and plumber say that’s normal and nothing can be done.
Hose and cold water flow are both fine. But worth 1500??? Not so sure

Yes! We have a Fusion and its fantastic. As others have said, we’d never go back to a kettle now. No metallic taste or problems with hot water flow. The only issue is same as PP mentioned about cold water initially running warm but now we are aware of this we just have to let the tap run a little longer for drinking water. Totally worth the money in my opinion.

Been fine for us for cold, hot and boiling. Very pleased with it

Thanks all, I think the outlay is a lot, but over time it works out based on the energy used to boil a kettle. Wondering whether the metal taste could be a regional thing, where I am we've very hard water and the limescale is just not funny! We've got a water dispenser in our fridge, so can get cold water for drinking. Not sure if the resetting issue though?

We've just been talking about this in the office. We have recently refurbed and have the quooker. Consensus is that the water isn't "kettle hot" - as someone said upthread, the drinks don't stay as hot for as long as they do when made with boiling water from the kettle. I was intending to have one installed at home, but I've changed my mind having used one for the past few weeks.

Come on - in the life of a kettle you will not spend £1000 boiling it. PMSL.

Well I wouldn’t like one at all but just regarding the boiling kettle (I’m in Ireland now so it might be slightly different here) but the kettle never gets cold!

I read that boiling a full kettle 3 Times a day costs about €1 per day so that’s €365 per year just gone up in steam there.

I still prefer a kettle though even if the savings were true.

Quooker tap all the way! You may not notice the savings straight away but kettles are so expensive to run. It costs about 50p every time you boil the kettle. Which doesn't like a lot but if you drink a lot brews it adds up. average brew from a Quooker is 10p. It's also great space saver for your worktops & is just generally really convenient.

50p to boil a kettle?? No-

Tap water at approx 15 degrees at 1 litre in the kettle.

To raise 1 ml of water 1 degree is 4.2 joules (near enough). So that's 1000ml x 85 degrees x 4.2 = 357,000 joules.

A 2kWh kettle consumes 2,000 joules per second, so will take approx 180 seconds to boil (assuming 100% efficiency).

That means 0.05 x 2kWh or .1 of 1 kWh.

1 kWh is around 11p. Which means boiling a 1L kettle from cold tap water costs around 1.1p. Even with a 50% efficient kettle and factoring for hard water (which requires more energy) that's still only 2.2p per boil.

50p per boil is nonsense.

I just yesterday calculated that to have the heating on (snowing outside) and to heat a 3 bed house it takes 1kwH - so even having the full heating on is much much less than the 50p quoted to boil a kettle. Who fills the kettle full anyway?

We have had one for over two years now. Bloody love it and would never go back to a kettle.

I'm hankering after one, do the new ones go in the space the tap goes ? Before I'd have had to have another hole and it's in a 3m length of granite so was cost prohibitive

My inlaws have the hot water one (not fusion by the sounds of it). I love it and need one in my next kitchen!

I thought the question was 'do you have a quokka', I'm sadly disappointed. I don't have a quooker or a quokka
