Waiting for a quote from a kitchen company! I’m impatient and need to resist emailing again.

When a company say they will email the plans and quote over on a certain day, they should!

I planned the kitchen 11 days ago in store.
The designer said I will get the email in a couple of days.
I emailed last Thursday to ask when would I get it.
She said it would be the following Monday, so yesterday.
Nothing!
I’ve emailed her today to ask if anything is missing to prevent her sending it to me.
Still nothing! Not even a response to say it’s delayed.

Pisses me off tbh.
I need the plans fairly soon for the builder to look at. She knows this.

I don't understand companies who don't bother their arses when it is a huge amount of money they dealing with.

We got our kitchen done a year ago. I planned out the kitchen with three companies, B&Q, Homebase and Howdens. Howden's were the only ones who listened to my budget, kept to time scales and were happy to re jig plans and properly listened to me. Guess which company got my 8k! Homebase never even returned my call after sending me my initial plans.

I would be pissed off and chase them.

Does their involvement with the project end once you get the plan? If not, I would absolutely cut my losses and go elsewhere. You don't want them involved if they're messing you about. If they can't even get this stage done or maintain proper communication, then imagine what they'll be like once you're tied into a project with them and they've got some of your money.

Every now and then I get someone out to estimate for work and the estimate never turns up. I never chase it up because I reckon it shows they're not people I want working for me.

I'd take this as a sign of future dealings and avoid them.

I'd also avoid them if they're the big green kitchen company.

The designer has invested time into the process so far.
Been to my house and measured up, spent over an hour and a half with me in store to go through the plans.
Then nothing.

The thing is I really need the plans because I’d like to go to DIY kitchens up north and see what they can do.
Although I may not have enough time before the builders start.

Defo email them! Say your builder needs the plans by the end of tomorrow as it's holding up electric & plumbing

The designer knows when the builder will possibly be starting.

You absolutely want to go to DIY instead of Wickes. I've just been through the same thing. DIY kitchens, plus worktops from Worktop Express. A gazillion times better quality than Howdens/Wickes/Benchmarx etc.

Another one saying don't bypass DIY Kitchens. Mine arrived last Thursday and we're just about finished. Really pleased with it, £3.1k excl appliances for my 4 X 5m kitchen. Work tops from Worktop Express in the oak, and they are so handsome now they're oiled.
(Just wish I had the handles on yet!)

Which kitchen did you go for?

Clayton Alabaster but I got the plinths and cornice in the Linwood oak. DIY Kitchens phoned me as they thought it was really weird, but it looks ace.
22 units all together, thank god it was all ready assembled (and very well too).
Got the very tall oven unit with a double oven topped by a microwave. Really pleased with it. Spent today putting stuff into my new cupboards. DH spent today laying on the sofa!
We did the plans ourselves the old fashioned way, onto graph paper, then got our usual builder in for the electrics/gas/water and just pointed to where we wanted things. He's totally renovated this house with us, so knows it inside out anyway.

But I am really pleased with it. Great for the price. Unfortunately we were constrained by going way over budget with some other work, and having DC to feed!

The flooring is Rhinofloor! Less than £350 from Carpetright. It's a very thick vinyl, pleased with that too.

I went for Norton painted oak, in lamp room grey.

Less than £3k!!

This kitchen had tiled walls and tiled work surfaces - I was totally tiled out so no tiles in the the new one.
Hope this is giving you some ideas ihate.

Tiles were from Victorian Plumbing. They are actually large wall and floor tiles, so each tile is made up of 8 smaller tiles.

And cheap as chips, £20 a sqm
