Total Reno take plans as an empty room (as it is currently) I would like a free standing bath and a decent shower without it looking to cramped or fussy, cant decide on anything!!

Also quite like this bath, I think it might work?

Ooh. I'm doing mine too, and think it's a similar size.

I take it you're not planning a shower over your bath then? We have to have one, which rules out your nice free standing one. The ones we're looking at are 1700mm long though...so that one you've posted seems very short?

Any ideas on colour scheme yet?

user263781638 · 13/10/2017 14:06

No I don't like showers over baths, we used to just have a shower room with a hugeeeee shower and I loved it but two kids later and a bigger house we need a bath 🙄
We'll have a shower in the ensuite though so it isn't super important to have both.
My go to colour is always greys and whites 🙈 with coloured accessories. I'm quite liking the marble tiles currently but that keeps changing. What about you?

Not sure if your sizes. We have an extra wide and long bath. A metre long vanity and a 120mm shower enclosure.

This gives us plenty of floor space and room to move

Yeah it's a small bath, it isn't free standing though but looks as though it is, added a pic of dimensions

Obviously my drawing is not to scale at all ha ha.

user263781638 · 13/10/2017 14:10

We're defo not bath lovers so wouldn't need a large one I just like the look and I'm sure the youngest would like a good splash in one too 😂 so your baths going to run under your window? I haven't even thought of that configuration, oh it's a mind field at least with our old one it was small and didn't really have much options lol

I'm going for grey too! As it's white currently, and don't like cream.

How old are your children? Mine are 3 and 6, but have a 17yo dss too. We also have an ensuite, so the main family bathroom is for the boys. Hence the need for a shower.

Will try and do a floor plan later. Smile

Here's the furniture I like...we can accommodate all of it, but think maybe getting it all is too matchy-matchy?! We have wooden floors, and the bath goes under the window like Calmanrose's.

Calmanrose · 13/10/2017 14:36

Yes the bath under the window... as we have the separate cubicle it works really well... it's quite the focal point and makes the room look wider and longer i feel

NinonDeLenclos · 13/10/2017 14:41

Problem with freestanding baths is that they take up more room than fitted ones and it's quite a small bathroom. Also nowhere to put anything down round those kinds of baths.

user263781638 · 13/10/2017 14:44

They're 8 and 1 both dd's, our eldest didn't mind just having a shower but when the youngest grew out of her baby bath and they had to shower together for safety reasons not at all to do with us being lazy it just got hard work. I love that furniture set!
We had these pocelanosa tiles in our last house and I'm trying to figure out if it'd be totally criminal to do the exact same again!? 😂

The picture I've attached of the bath we might go for isn't strictly free standing so maybe it will work better but also has the same effect? and this bathroom is double the size of our previous one so to me it's massive haha

Sorry to interrupt - calman what is the distance between your bath and shower? I have a 2.8x2.8 m bathroom and want a similar layout to yours but I'm worried the gap between the two is too small.

NinonDeLenclos · 13/10/2017 14:47

(I realise it's not properly freestanding)

NinonDeLenclos · 13/10/2017 14:51

I like Calman's plan.

Personally I think I'd either have a big bath or a big shower or a bath with power shower and good sized door (like pic) rather than trying to squeeze it all in.

These curved ones are quite funky and you can get a curved vanity unit to go with.

I like calmans plan too but a big bath would be wasted in our house, I really detest pea shaped baths, awful memories of our first shithole house

FanSpamTastic · 13/10/2017 16:00

We have a similar size bathroom. I put the bath along the wall with the window with the loo at the end of the bath. Then have a large walk in shower on one side - think it is 1200 x 900. Then have long vanity unit with sink opposite the shower.

user263781638 · 13/10/2017 16:27

I like your idea! Think this is the way I'm going to go.

Is there any apps for designing a bathroom, like an idiots guide to one because I feel like flinging my phone trying to do ikeas one 😩

@user263781638 my family have those tiles and I bloody love them! Do them again!

Boopear · 13/10/2017 17:15

Home design 3D is a pretty decent design app to see how things would look in a room. You can place doors/windows etc then move around (and resize) bathroom stuff to see how it would look in 2d and 3D.

Re small baths - have you had a look at the Omnitub? The small one is only 1050 x 760. Smile

Calmanrose · 13/10/2017 17:35

Bath depth 90cm. Vanity is 100cm with 15cm either side so there's 130cm between the shower and the bath. It feels plenty big enough

Calmanrose · 13/10/2017 17:38

Excuse the mess

Would you have room to easily get behind your bath if it was free standing? If not then it might be more practical if it backed right up to the wall. In our old house with a freestanding bath the toys dropped over the edge, water splashed on the floor & general dust gathering meant reaching behind ours (which we couldn't walk behind) was annoying. Also I recommend a shower attachment for the bath - it makes rinsing hair & cleaning the bath so much easier. Our planned layout is like Calmanrose with the bath under the window, except our toilet & sink are swapped. I'm planning a rectangular shower enclosure with window film at the end so I don't have to watch the kids wee when they visit while I'm showering :). I think I'm going for an electric towel rail as well so I don't have to wait for the rads to come on to heat up the room or dry the towels.

GoingRogue · 13/10/2017 20:54

OP love those Porcelanosa tiles...are they textured?

Ninon I really like all the pics you posted. We currently have a P-shaped bath, and I love the extra space as can bath with my children Smile Was thinking of going L-shaped for new bath initially, but now thinking of going straight so I have room for a wall-hung tall boy between bath and loo.

Here's my hastily drawn layout Grin
