monkey - I am definitely not posh! A lot of people have told me that our extension is financial madness because it's £££ compared to the value of the house, which is basically a cheap and very ordinary 1920s semi in a lower middle class area. What they do not realise is that DH and I have rather, ahem, unusual space requirement being childless (infertility
) and having a collection of books and records that will not fit in any normal house we could afford. The reason we are building a 1.5 x height room is so we can fit a huge 4 metre high bookcase down it. I think for both of us the new house is a way of reimagining our lives without kids.
You're doing such a great job - I was so impressed by the fact you have been sourcing amazing glazing and stuff for cheaps and the pictures you've posted suggest the end result looks very expensive indeed!!
I love the sound of y'alls navy island units! And I love, love, love whatashowers gorgeous smoky kitchen. I am so torn on this. My interior finishes are all basically designed around dark grey/concrete/plywood/white, with a lighter kitchen (white units/some oak units/grey) for a kind of Scandinavian look. I don't think I can really jump now because some of this stuff has been pre-ordered for a year (tiles, particularly)...
Hidehide - this may be a bit lower budget than you were thinking of, but Bathstore were really cheap when I needed a small, modern sink for my bathroom because I cracked the previous one dropping a glass bottle of bubblebath on it.
Where is @spydie? Thinking of you, lass.
