Hi,

Choclatear, would also be grateful for details of the Dorking company. We’re looking for external and internal glass doors too...

Thanks.

ArcheryAnnie · 17/05/2018 23:53

If you've got the money, go for it - Crittal windows last forever, and you will not have to replace them again and again. You'll end up spending less in the long term (as with so many things) as well as getting the best windows.

I love the style of Crittal but am not sure it would fit in with the rest of our house which is a 1930s house. Also not sure what the condensation problem might be which was mentioned.

wonkylegs · 18/05/2018 09:19

Crittel are classic Art Deco windows - 1930s is the right period for them

eumachia · 18/05/2018 17:05

Good point - thanks - will look into it.

PrimalLass · 18/05/2018 17:08

I love how they look but my claustrophobia wouldn't let me have them 😂 I need uninterrupted panes of glass.

Deploycharitygoats · 13/06/2018 20:00

Sorry to bump, but if anyone has the details of the Dorking company @chocolatetear mentioned, I’d really appreciate a PM.

bathildab · 13/06/2018 20:38

We were recommended Monk Metal who offered a huge saving. We went for Crittall (Lightfoot) in the end as the finish was exceptional but Monk worth a look if budget is tight!

Try the Heritage Window Company. They have a show room on Dorking high street and do thin aluminium frames.

EdenRock · 12/09/2018 21:17

Choclatear if you are still reading this old thread I am looking for a crittal supplier. Would you mind terribly emailing me yours if you don't mind...I would be super duper grateful!

Oscarbunty · 08/10/2018 20:34

Check out Ministry of The Interior, I just bought my interior doors from them and they're fantastic. I was quoted £8K by Crittall for an internal set of double doors, and I bought these for £1199! They also do bespoke steel ones internal and external for sensible prices.

Resurrecting this thread as I am on a crittall-alike mission at the moment. It's useful to have all these references in one place and hopefully this will generate some new ones.

We are doing a kitchen extension and I am set on crittall double doors opening within a wall of crittall-ness-wonder. I am prepared to sell my youngest child for it but not both of the DC - so need to go Crittall-alike. Anyone had anything like this done for less than a million quid?

CarafeOfTheFinestWine · 03/08/2019 18:48

Just watching. I love the look.

WBWIFE · 03/08/2019 22:34

Go to someone local.

We paid 1300 for a composite door with fancy glass and £300 for fitting

DanMikhael · 05/09/2019 15:32

Have a look for iSteel (.co.uk) products, they sell similar steel framed windows and doors at more affordable prices. I've done my studio with them and didn't had to sell a kidney.

Zitouna · 06/09/2019 11:30

@SnotandBothered we’ve just had our extension done and that exact same photo was my inspiration! We got our “Crittal” windows from Fabco - much cheaper than real Crittal (tho obvs still pricey) and I can’t tell a difference
