Help with kitchen cabinets. Looking to immitate deVOL.

I'm looking to imitate a deVOL kitchen but can't afford one Sad
I've looked at DIY kitchens Norton range but the lay-on frame is 10cm, a lot chunkier than deVOL. Has anyone seen any kitchens with a slimmer onlay frame above no V groove (so the frame is flush with no gaps)? I dint want in-frame. Thanks so much!

1/2. Good point! It's probably best to get in touch with the company but I'd guess they'd make the drawer units bespoke? That answers 2 as well as I'm sure they'd be able to make the fittings you need. I'm having some bespoke island panels a bit like the attached.

  1. We're going to use Diapol for the worktop (Blanco Zeus Extreme which is a pure white). We've used them twice before for the same product and they're fabulous. Really competitively priced too.
  1. If you go for standard shaker doors then you can use the (supplied) IKEA hinges but if you want in-frame then you need to buy your own (or maybe purchase them from Shaker Doors?). The cost for my hardware was already too high so that's one of the reasons I didn't got for in-frame - matching copper hinges would have been £££!
  1. Yep, they spray before they arrive and they use a company called Morrells, I think.
  1. Yeah, I wish! Grin We're acting as the builder and project manager on our extension so we'll be fitting the kitchen ourselves. My job is unit assembly. Hmm

Forgot to add, if you really want to imitate a DeVOL kitchen then you have to buy an Aesop hand wash. Every stylish kitchen I look at on Pinterest or Houzz seems to have one - it's everywhere. It's £££ so obviously you only get it out when people come over and refill it with cheaper stuff when it runs out. Grin

Lol and who the hell would have a white company candle next to the tap? Wick would be soggy in seconds....

user1499523365 · 10/04/2018 21:36

Do you know what brand of paint Foxstows are using Crumb?

Crumbelina · 11/04/2018 08:35

Not sure - sorry. They did send me a card sample and it looked like an exact match for the F&B shade though.

The doors have arrived! Will unwrap and update with pics later but initial impressions are very positive! (Sadly they won't be fitted to the units - final kitchens pics are a little way off!). Smile

BarbieV7 · 18/04/2018 13:02

Eek! I’m sure you have a few ladies very excited to see them!

mum2015 · 18/04/2018 13:45

👌We want to see the doors!!!

Crumbelina · 18/04/2018 20:46

Here they are! I absolutely LOVE them. Fabulous quality for the price, so sturdy (the large doors are heavy!), well made, no visible join, but visible grain (which I really wanted). The colour is absolutely perfect - I know Farrow and Ball Railings so well and it's a perfect match. The photos show up as a dark grey but the doors definitely have the characteristic blue undertone. They also have a slight sheen - even more so in the photos - but I'm sure they'll tone down after a while.

Obviously the units/doors won't be in-frame but they're very similar to DeVOL (I've been to their showroom and had a good look). Close up your can see how they're not identical - and obviously it's all IKEA inside - but the cost saving is fabulous without comprising on door design and quality I think. DeVOL's standard base unit (600mm by 800mm) is £600 and I've worked out that my ones are around £160 each (both are excluding the hardware).

Oh and from reading the first couple of pages of this thread I think the lay on frame (i.e. the frame around each door) is about 70mm, so a very close match for DeVOL, if not the same.

I'm now very excited waiting for the hardware to arrive, but Hmm at the prospect of assembling everything!

mum2015 · 18/04/2018 22:34

They are perfect

user1499523365 · 18/04/2018 22:56

So happy for you Crumb. Like the birth of a long awaited child! They look gorgeous. Can't wait to see them on the units. Has the hardware arrived?

Crumbelina · 20/04/2018 08:09

It's due to arrive at the end of April and will probably sit around for a while after.

My dining table arrived yesterday as well (from Design Shack) and it's fabulous. Another thing bought without seeing it first so I'm pretty relieved

user1499523365 · 20/04/2018 10:29

Pic please?! Can't wait to see all it finished.

BarbieV7 · 20/04/2018 11:06

Crumb they are perfect, are you staring at them all the the time? I love the tall one, I think the frame width is really balanced and elegant. Send us a pic of the table!

Do you think the kitchen will still be up by May then?

Are Foxstow and Shaker Doors the same company?

Crumbelina · 20/04/2018 20:40

Lolalotta - yep

lolalotta · 20/04/2018 20:40

Thank you!!!

lolalotta · 20/04/2018 20:42

We went to two Devol showrooms today to admire Wink the bum stools! They are ridiculously comfortable! Smile

Crumbelina · 20/04/2018 20:52

Here's the dining table! So well made and sturdy and an absolute bargain. Was something like £630 for a 2 metre table (seating eight) with bespoke extension pieces on each side making it 3m (seating 12). That includes a hard oil finish and delivery. We went for a driftwood finish: www.designshackbespoke.co.uk/portfolio-item/mantlet-table/.

I'm so glad I didn't opt for a £££ pristine table with two young children. I'm sure we'll have fork marks in it later but it won't matter.

You can also buy them via Etsy where they have a million five star reviews (which was definitely reassuring). Smile

Lolalotta - they should be for £350. Wink I'd love them but we're running out of money fast!

We visited the DeVOL Clerkenwell showroom last year (the second one hadn't opened) and I was sooo jealous of people in there designing their kitchen. Envy

PlainPiglet · 20/04/2018 21:20

Pineland Furniture Ltd. The wait is approx 6 months and you'd need to arrange your own worktops unless your want their oak ones. Paint is all Farrow and Ball and then you choose your own handles if you don't want wood. We went to Lark and Larks. Debbie was particularly nice and mocked up a plan really quickly.
Kitchen looks absolutely fabulous and for a fraction of a deVOL one. Our fitter (a friend) said the spec was just as high and he fits expensive ones for the rich and famous (thankfully still speaks to the poor but deVOL aspiring).
