I didn't realise people still did that! I'm so lucky-we're moving in with family so I can't be screwed over chain wise. If someone thinks I'm reducing the price for them close to the end they'll be told to sod off and they'll have lost out on a lot more than me!

momma1701 · 31/03/2017 18:45

They'll just be bargaining on you going 'ok that's fine' because the chain is nearly complete but he'd be very wrong in thinking that's what we'd be willing to do!
That's why we're giving him a very wide berth

Well done realising so soon that they were messers!
We had a couple offer £5k under asking price- accepted as they had no chain, but didn't like him from the start, seemed controlling. He then rang the estate agents to complain that they had accepted an offer from his wife without him ageeing to it Hmm eventually he proceeded- reduced offer after first survey (nothing serious); we accepted. Then wanted electrical survey, then a wall tie one. Offered under again, which we accepted but said it was the absolute final reduction and he had to sign in next 2 weeks. He then got a 4th survey done and tried to reduce by £10k because some building work done 40 years ago wouldn't pass building control if they got it done now! (It had passed at the time).
We pulled out and he tried to take us to court for the £6k he had spent on surveys by that time.... I still worry about his poor wife and children. Oh, and house was sold for £15k more within a month!

He sounds just like my buyer, his wife is lovely she can't get a word in edgeways with his bullshitting!
Hopefully one of our weekend viewers will offer tomorrow, had a strong feeling off one of them and she's a cash buyer, I told her all about me dick head because she was asking about offers we've had etc. I'm just at the point where I want it sold now and I'll always be honest and upfront with them even when they constantly lie to us Angry

We sold our last house through GH in Cheadle. Their sales progressor was excellent and she was the person who came out to do the valuation. Sadly, the other staff were not as good: I had to re-write the sales particulars and get photos changed and one of them nearly lost us our buyers. DP had to practically spoonfeed them what to say to keep the buyers on the hook.

Well it's true Red! We were slightly outside their usual area and the details gave information about Cheadle, not the area local to house so I re-wrote that section. I also removed all the hackneyed EA speak. If it hadn't been for DP, our buyers would not have come back after they lost their first buyer when he couldn't get a mortgage.

We sold a house in Bramhall a 4yrs ago and started off using GH. They were ok but I did need to correct the appalling spelling and grammar on the particulars. Plus they have weekend staff do the weekend viewings and they don't really know much about the local school or what you've done to the house. They were helpful enough. We finally sold our house through the newer EA who have a branch in Bramhall and Wilmslow and share initials with a deceased controversial pop star. They certainly did their job but I'm not sure I'd trust them to have my best interest at heart. Here in Sussex most of our agents are small independents so they are more concerned about keeping your business plus it's far more common to have dual agents down here so they work harder as they want to be the one to sell it.
