I can't decide if I like it or if it's too blingy? Would you offer on it and if so, how much?

Its really only a 2+ bed though isn't it, you would struggle to get a single bed even in the 3rd bedroom because of the layout (its too narrow to go width ways) and if it was length ways you'd potentially struggle to open the cupboard or the door.

It looks like corners have been cut with the way its been extended / more space has been added so I probably wouldn't offer unless I had money to plough into it post completion.

MackerelOfFact · 10/01/2017 11:23

There are lots of long, thin rooms with hardly any windows, which would put me off. I'd want to redecorate, but there's nothing sinister about it the way it is, you could live with it for a few weeks/months.

perfectlybroken · 10/01/2017 11:31

It depends on why you wold be buying it really. Anything blatantly bling can be changed, kitchen and bathroom look reasonably neutral. I can see what people mean about how parts of it might be dark, but if it offers more space than you would otherwise get for your money then it might be worth it. We have a house that has been extended downstairs, leaving the middle area quiet dark. We tend to use those areas more in the evening to be nice and cosy with the lights on, and use the other areas in the day.
We also have lots of space downstairs and fairly small upstairs, but that suits us as we only sleep upstairs, all playing, work and studying is done downstairs.
Have you had a look round yet?

Cguk81 · 10/01/2017 11:37

I think it's horrid!

mynewnamechange · 10/01/2017 12:20

Wyken isn't a great area but it's a lot of house for our money and space is a big thing for us.
I like that it's in a cul-de-sac.
I don't like that you can't park outside.
I like that it has a playroom and separate living room.
I don't like the idea of a flat roof ( hadn't even noticed that so thanks for pointing it out)

Going to view tonight but I think DH is pretty sold on it because of the space. Trying I preempt him with pros and cons.

I think if we do offer, it will be a cheeky one and then see what they say. It's been relished recently but I definitely saw it before xmas with a different EA at the same price

Far too dark for me. I do like the black and white bathroom (apart from the square mirror thingies), but the rest would all need redecorating. Whilst I'm not against redecorating, and it looks like there's good space, I couldn't compromise so much on natural light.

JillyTheDependableBoot · 10/01/2017 12:42

Really low ceilings too. The kitchen layout is horrid and a lot of the living space is in that grim garage conversation and the impossible-to-heat conservatory.

mrsmortis · 10/01/2017 12:46

I'd want to think about how useable the bar is. With just a garage door on the back is it going to cost a fortune to heat if you want to use it in the winter? Especially if you have instruments in there that are sensitive to temperature/humidity.

I think it's going to be too dark. My neighbours have over extended like that and their rooms are long and corridor like and very dark.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 10/01/2017 12:54

they surely haven't got proper permission/building warrants for that bar if the garage door is still in place?

the kitchen window looks out into the conservatory? very odd!

and man alive they have taken the concept of a feature wall and stretched it to its limit!

dearie me

HeddaGabbler · 10/01/2017 12:56

I'm really hoping it's not OPs house!

Oblomova · 10/01/2017 13:00

I'm really hoping it's not OPs house!

Hmm, that's what I suspected too - the property equivalent of a reverse!4

The horrible cheapie-bling decor is solvable, obviously, but darkness and narrow rooms would be more of an issue.

LunaLoveg00d · 10/01/2017 13:01

All my pet hates in one house - verical blinds, clashing feature walls with clashing curtains, a converted garage with the garage door left as a "feature", the godawful pub and a galley kitchen.

Dreadful.

mynewnamechange · 10/01/2017 13:32

Haha! I promise it's not my house.... might end up being my house though! Confused

Looks like a fairly standard house with a conservatory, and a garage (that is laid out currently as a bar). They have it to their taste, you would have it to yours, but it is all liveable with. If the price and location is right (no idea) then go for it.

LucyLocketLostHerPocket · 10/01/2017 13:41

I think that painted white, considerably decluttered and with all the vertical blinds removed it would look and feel more airy and spacious but I don't think it's at all blingy. It wouldn't be my choice but it's definitely liveable and a lot of downstairs space if that's what you want

fallenempires · 10/01/2017 13:50

Thought it was in Cov before I checked. It could have potential yes,but I'd be afraid to live in that area.Good luck with house hunting tho Smile

mynewnamechange · 10/01/2017 13:55

Oh dear, is Wyken that bad? I knew it wasn't great but not a scary area!

OP posts:
snowgirl1 · 10/01/2017 14:00

I'd want to knock through the kitchen and family room to get a decent sized kitchen diner. Have you had a conservatory before? Our house has a small one that was there when we bought it - it's a total waste of space as it's too hot on a sunny day (DH took the temp one day and it was over 40C) and too cold the rest of the time. We only use it to store DD's toys. Don't buy the house for the 'space' the conservatory gives you.

fallenempires · 10/01/2017 14:02

Don't think it's as bad as Bell GreenShock but remember my DP mentioning it.Maybe go with an open mind then due some research into the area.I will try and find out more then let you know. Will DM you laterSmile

snowgirl1 · 10/01/2017 14:11

Are you sure you can't park behind the garage at the back of the property?

If there really is no parking that would be a big no for me. I didn't have parking at my previous property and it got more a more difficult to find a parking place and it was a pain traipsing back and forth from the car to get supermarket shopping etc.

JillyTheDependableBoot · 10/01/2017 14:20

I keep opening the link again and going, "WHY would anyone think that would be a nice place to live?" ShockConfused

mynewnamechange · 10/01/2017 14:29

Thanks Jilly. Very helpful contribution!

Pradaqueen · 11/01/2017 04:47

Make sure they take the pool/snooker table with them (seriously, get it written into the contract) they are a complete bastard to get removed if the owner leaves them behind...

wowfudge · 11/01/2017 06:33

It's not that bad - the vendors have terrible taste in décor and there are no softening, homely touches apart from in the kids' bedrooms. The kitchen being a case is point: a nice (not gaudy) blind and a couple of plants and pictures would make all the difference.

Oh and the garage isn't properly converted.

wowfudge · 11/01/2017 06:38

Just coming back to say it looks overpriced - it's priced for the extra living space the garage gives, but wouldn't you look in a better area instead?
