Slide and Swing doors on extension - any experiences with New Wave/Decenuninck/Panoramic?

On our extension, we are planning on having 3-4m of glazing on the south facing wall to overlook the garden. We have UPVC french doors on the same wall in the existing building and have a running battle to try to get them to close because the sun makes them warp.

We've looked at, and discounted bifold doors. However, we have come across the Magnaline product being used in Slide and Swing (or Slide and Stack) doors from New Wave Doors, Deceuninck, Panoramic doors, and other suppliers - although at this point, I'm not sure if it's the same product just licensed to different suppliers.

Does anybody have any experience of these Slide and Swing doors, and particularly on a south facing wall (did the UPVC ones warp)?

I ordered my doors from this company 6 weeks ago instead of going to Panoramic Doors (who my neighbour used and had his doors installed 2 weeks ago).
The sales lady Claire was very accommodating and once she got my deposit she gave me a delivery date of the 9th October 2018. As I'm a freelancer for work and known all over the country teaching Law and Accounting, I have to book work well in advance so gave up a day's pay to wait for these doors. On the day of the 9th NO ONE turned up.
I called them and was told no one would be installing the doors that day, but that no one knew why.
At this point Katie now told me she knew nothing about my order or delivery and would pass me to Adrianna- who also knew NOTHING about my order, delivery or installation. No one called me back until after I had rang this company 20 TIMES to find out what was going on.
Even then there was never any apology or compensation for my time or costs and the doors still havent arrived yet. Supposedly they will arrive this week Friday but only because my poor old mum who's a pensioner, has to come from Hampshire to London to wait for these fitters.
The fitters so far have been great the first time I met them. Helpful and keen to do a good job.
Do NOT USE this company if possible go to Panoramic Doors UK as my neighbour has used them and we can attest to their quality and customer service.
Neither employees Claire nor Adrianna have ever respected that a customer who pays SIX THOUSAND POUNDS for doors needs to have a timeline for delivery and adequate customer contact.
Today they even invented a fictitious phone call to me claiming they called me to inform me of delivery dates to insult my intelligence further and also said they wouldn't compensate me due to this being a problem from their supplier!
They never admit responsibility for their poor communication and service instead blaming their supply chain- who in fairness are probably doing a much better job than them if the doors are manufactured well.
I will be reviewing their company post installation to let you and other public forums know how it goes.

New Wave Doors. They have a terrible rep and I should have never trusted them. They are Awful. Please stay away from them. I will be reporting them to the consumer watchdogs after this week if they fail to install.

@jpnc01 if you paid by credit card, then take the matter up with them as they are jointly responsible. Hope they turn up though. Please do let us know. These forums seem to be better at making these rogue companies think twice. Personally, in the matters of pure evidential cases of wrongdoing by council leaders and politicians is met with apathy and taking legal steps too costly financially and the health of the family.

Thanks for that. At this point it looks like I'll have to pay the balance or risk losing the chance at getting my doors but I'm very uncomfortable with spending more money on them. I'll definitely be reporting them and using social media to find out who is running this company. They really think customers are ignorant and irrelevant. It takes us years to save money to invest in our homes and our family. These guys have a lot to learn.

If you’re thinking about these doors, don’t bother. We have had nothing but trouble with them. The customer service is awful and you can never get to speak to anyone who has any real power to get things sorted. Phone calls not returned, not turned up for appointments or cancelled at the last minute. I’ve given them 2 weeks to get my issues sorted if not i’m Consulting a solicitor

Hi, has anyone managed to take New wave to court or make a claim if paid by credit card, successfully? We are in a similar situation where NW have been ignoring their phone, email and letters for over 6 months now and our doors are yet to be completed as they are faulty. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks

Oh man, sorry to hear about your experiences with NW doors.

My brother works for Deceuninck so have seen some of their products.

I can't comment too much on their doors as I don't know too much about them but (obv) my brother has talked well of them.

I don't know about slide and swing but they have these sliding ones:

Message to Kazoobie.
Yes the idea of joining forces to stop these rogue traders would be a brilliant idea. Do you know what is going on with NW doors now and have they ever got back to you re fixing the faulty doors?

@BirdyandBee did you finally go with Sunseekers and if yes, how was your experience?

I am looking to put in these slide and swing doors as well and reading all the comments here as well as other review sites on the internet , it seems Sunseekers and 1stfoldingandslidingdoors.co.uk have the better ratings.

Pricewise, sunseekers is higher by £500 compared to Panoramic for our doors. Still waiting for 1stfolding to come back.

Anyone else have any experience with 1stfolding or any other company?

Hi @monicadxb yes I went with SunSeekers and was happy with the service they provided

I am looking at doors for our new Garden Studio and am considering Sunseeker's Ultraslim slide and turn doors as we like the concept and extra slim frames however having looked are reviews on the web they are very mixed.
Does anyone have experience of these doors and their durability as the guarantee is much less than other suppliers. also I have seen a video of a poor installation where you can see daylight between the doors when they should be weatherproof.

I have discounted New Wave as they have VERY wide frames which will spoil the view. also discounted Panadoor and Panoramic as not aluminium doors (PVC with AL covers). Have considered Sunflex but have not heard back yet from the agent they have passed my details to. FGC look good but price is horrendous - over twice the price of Sunseeker.

The alternative is standard bifold doors with a 95mm sight line (just over twice the Sunseeker ultraslim)

Topcat50, I know it’s over a year since your post but did you go any further in joining forces with others who had bad experiences with New Wave / Legacy windows?
We are in similar situation with ours broke and then wanting a £500 call out fee before they will consider looking at them 🤬 the customer service is non existent

@Jo1994 sorry to hear that. We are in the same position. I HATE this company! New wave / legacy..... whatever they call themselves. 🤬🤬🤬. I've had a tiny success - they came out last year to fix our door as hinges dropped and it wouldn't close. But now it's dropped again I fear we will be having another battle on our hands. I had to threaten legal action last time. Which unbelievably they did the same to me for giving a bad review! . Feel free to pm me.

Bought UPVC slide and swing doors in 2017... Doors look lovely however during the summer Iam forever having to adjust them due to the heat expansion... Its a right pain to be honest... I used a company from Chester Le Street in the North East... To be honest they have been fine, have called them out a couple of times to adjust the sliding panels... The doors are great other than the above issue..

Beware of New Wave Windows. I came across this thread while reviewing New Wave Windows and thought I should add my comments. Do not trust the reviews on their website. Have a look at other review sites including Money Saving Expert.
I ordered and (after a long delay) had the doors fitted at the beginning of April. This period was during the second wave of Covid during the lockdown. During this time you could contact the company by telephone and email which I had to on numerous occasions.
The doors have developed a fault after 4 months. When you try to contact the company now by telephone you are unable to and you get an automated response by email.
The company have not responded to my request to come and fix the fault. I have absolutely no way of getting them to respond to me.

I bought UPVC slide and swing doors 6 yrs ago and had nothing but problems from day one.. I was constantly having to adjust the doors. When the temp went up the plastic would expand dramatically and when temp dropped it would contract in the same way.. Eventually the frames warped with all the expansion and contraction so they couldn't be closed properly..The company admitted they were not fit for purpose and I had aluminium bifolds fitted at a much reduced price which have been fine so far 🤞. The company I bought them from don't sell them anymore because of all the problems they had .
Avoid at all costs ...
