If someone were, brave, enough to go for it what would it cost to fix?

50k? 100k? Squillions?

Dunno but I love it .. Where's Montpellier ?

Floggingmolly · 10/09/2016 19:00

Probably a lot... but it's fab!

PotatoBread · 10/09/2016 19:01

I love the tiled hallway but there is something about it that gives me the creeps. Think it's the gardens/grounds - wouldn't fancy sleeping there on my own at night due to fear of lurkers/the bogeyman in the bushes!

No clue on money - depends how much is superficial and how much would be structural repair

albertcampionscat · 10/09/2016 19:02

Montpelier's in Bristol.

Depends very much on how high spec you want it.

But as I'm in the process of renovating a house - I reckon you could easily spend £200k on it.

albertcampionscat · 10/09/2016 19:03

The house is surrounded by normal terraces - you get there down an alleyway. Rus in urbe and all that.

200k, eh? Good, good, I need scaring off.

Wow. There is a LOT of work there. Some interesting damp issues, probably rewiring and attention needed on the plumbing and heating (I don't see any radiators), new kitchen and bathroom, full redecoration including new plaster on walls / ceilings, possible structural issues due to the damp stains, who knows what the roof is like, either retrospective double glazing or new windows... I don't think it would be worth it unless you had planning permission to add floor space at the same time.

Thank you sentia!

Wow, it could be gorgeous.

I think more though- there will be so many hidden problems there. I've watched enough episodes of Grand Designs to be fairly confident that will be half a million quid to sort out. Grin

SisterViktorine, I love you.

I reckon £100 000 to do to adequate spec, much more to high spec. I mean you could spend and spend if you want. But it needs electrics, plumbing, plastering to start (conservative estimate there £30 000 alone) plus flooring, new kitchen and bathrooms. Plus hidden extras for other issues (roof, guttering, damp etc).

Oblomov16 · 10/09/2016 19:18

OMG it is so incredibly beautiful. The damp looks bad. You could spend anything from £50k to £300k on it.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/09/2016 19:39

I thought it was a snip. But I thought it was central Cheltenham at first.
It would be lovely when finished, but a total money pit. A couple of hundred thousand could disappear quite easily sorting out all thepressing problems and making it what you want to see.

MrsBellefleur · 10/09/2016 19:43

Oh it's beautiful! Someone buy it, do it up then invite us all round to see!

albertcampionscat · 10/09/2016 19:46

It is beautiful. It looks like a set from Sherlock.

Me too Enrique!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/09/2016 20:11

Sorry Albert but there's a harsh reality to living in a film set Confused Shame.

kaputt · 10/09/2016 21:07

OK, so if the roofs buggered things could get bad so let's put a conservative £20k in for that, and £15k for rewire. Learn to plaster and you'll spend £1500, get someone in and you'll spend £10k.

Maybe another £15k to sort out the plumbing, maybe more. Depends what's going on with all that damp.

Then it's what, £20k in kitchen and bathroom if you're good at bargains.

And a further £20k in misc ie you doing eeeverything else just spending on materials etc and not moving any walls around and presumably all your furnishings will fit in so you don't need new ones.

So basically as long as you don't mind not having double glazing and doing a massive amount of work yourself and don't have any grand ideas involving steel or polished concrete etc I reckon you could get it really amazing in about five years for a hundred grand.

How adorable is it that they've displayed all those plates so nicely in the kitchen, like 'look! it's fine here! don't worry about the plaster situation!'

Shurelyshomemistake · 10/09/2016 21:11

Might be knotweed in that garden as well...

It would cost a complete fortune to do up. Absolutely everything needs doing.

selfishcrab · 10/09/2016 21:19

It would cost in excess of 100k DIY basic's and don't really know what the structure is like, so could be so, so much more.
It could be a complete money pit!
We contemplated looking at this property as we renovateand we're looking for a new home but changed our minds.
It is lovely.
