Shamelessly looking for inspiration!

Thanks!

I'm looking for inspiration too, mind if I hijack a bit?

Big ugly featureless mid nineties semi. Well not big, ordinary 3bed semi d size but acres and acres of blank wall. North facing front, prone to moss and mould. White pvc windows. Always overcast at least.

What would you pick? Must ring painter tomorrow with final decision and am still dithering despite daydreaming about it for about 3 years.

Purple- a lovely warm aubergine. I love it!

PigletJohn · 14/04/2016 01:26

If it faces the sun, avoid black, which gets very hot and is liable to crack or blister; or red, which fades prematurely, don't know why.

White shows the dirt, and there is more outdoors than you would expect.

It's called oaken wine or something...it's a deep red. I like it (white clapboard house with gray trim) but it needs repainting something awful.

F&B Chappell Green

citychick · 18/04/2016 14:29

Lichen green by farrow and ball. Love it.
Agree light blue looks lovely on Victorian properties. Thinking Wedgewood blue. Lovely.

bowsaw · 18/04/2016 17:04

white

Snapey66 · 18/04/2016 17:05

Bright Red !

LadyCatEyes · 18/04/2016 17:08

My porch door is white upvc, but we then have a wooden door beyond that which I'd quite like to paint. I rather fancy a sort of sage green.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 18/04/2016 18:52

Also dark-medium blue on off-white rendered house.

Solo · 18/04/2016 19:08

Inherited white. Wooden door inside a porch. The best door I have ever seen was painted by a friend; firstly in purple, then she painted it bright red...It. Was. Fab!

Scone1nSixtySeconds · 18/04/2016 22:29

No one else have a pink door then? Grin

What colour is your front door?
HoneyDragon · 18/04/2016 22:40

Gloss black. Door and window frames are all cream.

BennyTheBall · 18/04/2016 22:42

Gloss black.

Our house is listed and we asked to change the colour but were turned down

BurningTheToast · 19/04/2016 08:03

A sort of dark aubergine. Farrow and Ball' Pelt in eggshell to be precise. I love it and when we move this summer the new door is going to be redone in the same colour.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 19/04/2016 08:55

I had a pink door scone - I loved it. Raised a couple of eyebrows with the neighbours though Grin

Before it was pink it was black. Which was very smart but as pigletjohn mentioned, blistered in the direct sun.

New house has a pale sagey green door, which is not an unpleasant colour but doesn't go with the walls or the porch. I'd like to change it.

audrey01 · 19/04/2016 19:36

@BurningtheToast - I was very close to choose the F&B Pelt colour, but sadly it didn't sit that well with the colour of the exterior walls/style of our house. I think that it is a fantastic colour regardless!

SquidgeyMidgey · 19/04/2016 19:57

Ours is cream, matches the windows, on a brick cottage. I'd like an oak one but can't find one we agree on.

Scone1nSixtySeconds · 20/04/2016 12:45

Living in a village where every home has a name means it's very useful to be able to say "look for the house with the pink door". It's actually a chalk paint red that has faded, but I love it more now in its faded state.

pinkcan · 20/04/2016 12:48

White!
Seems a bit rubbish compared to the snazzy ones on here.
