Shamelessly looking for inspiration!

Thanks!

Currently a sort of conker brown but we are redoing it soon and looking for a nice Victorian colour. Our preference (today at least-it keeps changing) is for a really dark, dirty reddish brown by Paper and Paint Library that we will get Dulux to match (P&PL don't do exterior paints). Yesterday it was olive green (Light Bronze Green by the Little Greene paint company in fact).

The hardware-partly restored, partly new-will be black cast iron.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 12/04/2016 18:42

Red composite with chrome handle and letter box.

TitaniumSpider · 12/04/2016 18:52

A minty/pastelly green.

PigletJohn · 12/04/2016 18:53

Wood colour.

RabbitSaysWoof · 12/04/2016 18:56

Black gloss.

Honeyandfizz · 12/04/2016 18:56

I've just repainted mine in f&b railings - I love it!

LemonRedwood · 12/04/2016 18:56

This is mine. I love it.

F&B French Grey. Baaahh.

PigletJohn · 12/04/2016 19:41

galloping off-topic, I am distressed to see letter-boxes close to (seemingly) yale-type nightlatches.

Using a simple home made tool, or a child's arm, it is possible to turn the knob and open the door.

The modern British Standard nightlatch has the facility to lock the internal knob, but most people leave them unlocked, so better to put a box or cage round the letterbox (or fit it elsewhere, if you can).

NattyGolfJerkin · 12/04/2016 19:47

My letterbox is like Arkwright's till, it'll snap your fingers off if you try poking them through (but yes to the cage etc)

I bet there will be a thread on AIBU - AIBU to wonder why my neighbours are all taking pictures of their front doors tonight? Am I missing something? Should I be taking a photo of my front door and what should I do with it when I have?

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 12/04/2016 20:24

I'm not taking a photo of our door because it's a source of shame.

Skittlesss · 12/04/2016 20:37

A white upvc (think that's what it's called) one and it looks boring compared to the others on here.

I walk past a bright red one every day and always think it looks amazing.

Pale green ("Chartwell") composite door with sandstone walls

Thanks everyone. Terrific responses, our last door colour was mission brown. I can't begin to express how depressing that was!! DH is keen on F&B drown pipe but I was thinking something a little lighter, like Little Greene's Celestial Blue. So we are miles apart in the world of a colour paint chart! But I do like both and many of your suggestions too - aggrrhh indecision rules and it is driving me insane!!

Today's choice is brown, actually! DH likes green, but our next door neighbours have painted their door and guttering a rather sickly pale green which I think every other green in existence will clash with.

Brewers is a good site as they show you colours from a lot of brands which makes it easier to compare.

DH and I have spent quite a lot of time on there recently! In fact, we have to be careful as we will end up spending more on sample pots than it will cost to restore the front door.

audrey01 · 13/04/2016 18:22

Ours is painted in F&B Brindjal, which is sort of a deep aubergine colour. I love it! can you tell I was the one making the decision, not my husband :-)

Cacofonix · 13/04/2016 18:44

Vert de terre (green) F&B. Was pale blue before but prefer the green. Original Edwardian door. Black and white encaustic tiles on floor in front and red brick. All looks very naice

YoniMitchell · 13/04/2016 18:46

F&B Lichen. Looks good on sunny or dull days and fits with the age of the house.

Paddingtonthebear · 13/04/2016 18:52

Dunno what it's called or where it's from but it's this

Dark grey

bialystockandbloom · 13/04/2016 21:03

Sort of very pale greeny/grey, some F&B tasteful shit from when we did it 9 years ago.
