New kitchen costs

This is inspired by another thread on here. As kitchen companies are so cagey about advertising their actual prices would anyone be willing to post where they got their kitchen from within the the last couple of years, room size/number of units, how much it cost and what they think of it now it's in?

Thank you sweetheart that's really helpful. I will go with the builder and just keep bartering. We have been quoted in the Glendevon which I believe is a mid range but we only asked for simple laminate wood effect work tops. Seems so expensive. Builder has offered to go to magnet and benchmark and try to price match and then head back to howdens to get them to match. Just could do without the aggravation nothing's ever easy is it?!

Ikea metod about £1400 for 12 units. We had the appliances as well. .can't really fault them. .5 year warranty too. We've had to have our dishwasher fixed...but it was a known fault.

2 years in and it still looks lovely

mad, I found it MUCH easier and quicker to negotiate and price match over email - it's easier to be cheeky when you're sat behind a computer screen instead of sitting next to someone! Also it was so much quicker because I just sent the emails off and didn't have to sit around in showrooms for hours on end. Also helped that we had the design fixed so we weren't looking at different cabinet configurations at every place.

Thank you sweet I have the design fixed too I want what we agreed just not at that price!! I'll see how I get on seems ridiculous that that is with a builders discount too! I have an itemised list of everything at the moment should they give me drawings that I can take elsewhere?

Are your drawings with Howdens? They will give you the drawings and a kitchen plan. Most places will to be honest as well as an itemised list - just ask them to email it over to you. I had breakdowns and plans from Howdens / Wicks / Magnet / Wren etc

Thank you will be able to pick them up this week then the fun of price matching begins!

How is everyone getting on?

I am totally undecided about where to buy the kitchen from, or even what design I want really, so it's great to see your kitchens and hear your thoughts..

Going v slowly here. I have changed my mind over work tops and sinks. Had v high quote from howdens so builder has taken plans to magnets and benchmark and price has come down. But i have only been given verbal prices by builder and no docs from either of these. I guess he's within his rights to keep all the papers as its for his trade account. However as I have now changed my mind over bits I realise I do not have one quote which correctly represents the kitchen I'm after. I need to ask my builder to go back and obtain amended quotes. I feel clearer about what I want. I think I will decide to buy appliances separately as I can prob save over 1k on the 8 appliances I want. I'm feeling the builder is being a bit pushy but as he hasn't even given me his own quote to do the work which I originally requested about 4 weeks ago he can be as pushy as he likes it won't get him anywhere. I also want to make sure of exactly what I want and don't want to be rushed into making decisions.
I have also decided to obtain a quote from an independent kitchen company and am waiting for their quote. Will be interesting to see how that compares!
