Any budget at all, which house would you buy?

Just that really. I'm trying to cheer myself up by looking for the house I will buy when I win the lottery tonight Grin.

I love a bit of property porn on a cold, damp January evening.

Any budget, any location. What would you go for?

So far, I'm quite liking this with a modest win. I'm still searching for a real splurge one...

This is my perfect house and when I am rich I will buy it. Or, more likely, when I am dead I will haunt it.

Any budget at all, which house would you buy?

I've always fancied Petersham www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-54801620.html?premiumA=true

Devora · 03/01/2016 00:27

This is also very nice, just half a mile from Mortlake station: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34727124.html

And this, in Richmond: decor not my style but the location, and the views... www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-52317931.html

Vixxfacee · 03/01/2016 00:29

General that house is amazing. Good find Grin

JasperDamerel · 03/01/2016 00:40

I was considering several of the York houses Devora posted, and almost posted the B&B she linked to, but settled on something a little bit more manageable instead:

It's not a wildly fantastic house, but would hate the reality of living somewhere really big with lots of rooms to have to keep clean. This is roomy without being OTT, and the location is fabulous.

Devora · 03/01/2016 00:49

Ooh yes, Jasper. That would do me nicely - I see some other toerag has already beat us to it!

Devora · 03/01/2016 00:52

Oh, but look at this: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36026950.html

Again, decor not my style, but what a beautiful beautiful house.

Devora · 03/01/2016 00:56

Or how about Kirby Knowle Castle? www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38053173.html

Kitla · 03/01/2016 03:01

Some lovely houses... But if money was no issue, I wouldn't buy a house, I'd have one designed and made to suit my needs and that of my family. At best I might go for a barn conversion, but only if it were in a village or town. I want to be able to walk home from the pub on a good night out Grin.

Effic · 03/01/2016 03:23

Thank you 80smum for finding me my holiday home by the sea 😀 - wow! Love the first one!
but for the rest of the year, I'll live here please search.savills.com/property-detail/gbhmrscls120076#/r/detail/GBHMRSCLS120076

TheTeaFairy · 03/01/2016 10:20

This one does it for me. Especially pic #14: dreamy.

Bit pricey for a terraced house though Grin

wickedwaterwitch · 03/01/2016 10:50

This is nice

wickedwaterwitch · 03/01/2016 10:51

So is this, I like The Cotswolds

bookbook · 03/01/2016 12:04

Some lovely houses !
A word of warning about Fulford in York - not in a flood area, but guess what last week? My DD works along that road - it was closed.....
I think with age, I appreciate largish rooms, but considering its all a pipe dream I wonder about keeping warm! :)

Devora · 03/01/2016 22:30

I'm torn between Hampstead and the Cotswolds now.... can I have both?

bookbook - flood waters reaching Fulford Road, surely not?! I used to live on Alma Terrace and that house was flooded, as it has been before, but it would be quite something for the water to get higher up.

bookbook · 03/01/2016 22:38

yep Devora A19/Fulford Road closed - all the centre of York was pretty well closed off for about 2 days -( though not into houses ). DD had to go out, around ring road and back in to get to work

JasperDamerel · 05/01/2016 12:55

None of the houses shown were in a flooded area, though. The flooding was at the very top of Fishergate, just by the bridge, and down by Fordlands Road.

JasperDamerel · 05/01/2016 12:57

Alma Terrace only flooded the usual amount, too - sandbags at the very bottom of the street.

Oliversmumsarmy · 05/01/2016 13:00

If I won a large amount on the lottery I would sell up and go and live in hotels around the world. Why would you want to stay in the same place.

ftm123 · 05/01/2016 13:07

Rather disappointed the Richmond one is claiming to be 5 bedrooms, when one of the bedrooms is accessed via a bathroom. I guess that's London prices for you. 4 million and you still compromise on layout! (Although would make a great dressing room ).

SorrelForbes · 05/01/2016 13:08

I'm a city girl through and through (I've lived in Plymouth and Portsxmouth and find them both too rural!, so I'd opt for this. I think this is probably what EdithWeston was going for too:

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34876866.html

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-52377940.html

Obviously I'd have the money to do a complete re-dec Grin

SorrelForbes · 05/01/2016 13:17

For those of you wanting something different, this is just round the corner from me. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38278161.html

Devora · 05/01/2016 13:43

I was very tempted by your second one, Sorrel, till I saw it's a basement. Over £2m for a basement flat!

MothershipG · 05/01/2016 14:44

This one has a room for 'games and dancing'. I want it.

On a slightly more reasonable scale who could say no to a house with manorial earthworks?
