Anyone got a Neff oven? Worth paying more for Slide and Hide door?

We are on a tight budget, and although I like the look and the function of the slide and hide oven, am wondering if it's worth it.

Our slide & hide is essential as otherwise I wouldn't be able to use the top oven - so yes I love it! So far no problems with it.

MmeTunnocks · 01/09/2015 10:25

We went for this one here and now I'm annoyed cause they've got their £70 trade in offer back on, and we ordered 2 weeks ago!

I've specked a Neff slide n hide for our new kitchen. It will be fitted at 'ground level' not up high. I'm not sure if it's worth it or whether to just go for an oven with a slide out rack...

Buckinghambae · 02/09/2017 21:29

We have one in our kitchen, I wouldn't pay for it - I would rather have telescopic shelves myself

acooke389401 · 03/09/2017 09:22

Thanks buckinghambae. I've asked our 'kitchen designer' to go for something basic with telescopic shelves.

fabulousathome · 03/09/2017 13:31

Try googling telescopic oven shelves. They are fabulous.

YorkshireTea86 · 03/09/2017 13:59

Really want telescopic shelves for ours but can't find an oven that has both telescopic shelves and pyrolytic cleaning without spending £££s having 2 full sized ovens and wanted one with self cleaning but need telescopic for the oven on top so it's safer to get stuff out.

jigster01 · 03/09/2017 14:18

We have 2 neff hide and slide on top of each other ..both pyrolitic best ever . ..

keepmoving · 03/09/2017 14:30

We have one too and it's fab! Great for a smaller kitchen although it did take me a while not to step back for the "open door".

John Lewis had a price offer on earlier this year so worth keeping an eye out for promotional offers/shopping around.

Squeegle · 03/09/2017 14:36

I'm still very delighted with my slide and hide oven; it's a great oven - with all the self cleaning functionality! There was a special offer and I got £200 worth of Tesco vouchers. Only thing is that it didn't come with a grill pan- annoying! Haven't bought one yet so have been frying everything.

iknowimcoming · 03/09/2017 14:44

Is this a daft question? How do you clean inside of the door? Or do you not need to with the pyrolitic cleaning thingy? tIA

bouncydog · 04/09/2017 07:59

When you use the pyrolitic function it also cleans the door. You may get a couple of odd spots left but can get these off with a damp cloth and a bit of elbow grease. Love our neff ovens - they are so easy to use and the slide and hide means I can easily reach in.

iknowimcoming · 04/09/2017 09:40

Thanks bouncydog! We are having two side by side under the counter in an island - one with the steam option one without I think. Are the grills good on them also? We are replacing a range cooker which has a tiny grill and is a big bugbear of mine with it - it struggles to grill 8 rashers of bacon let alone chops or anything!

bouncydog · 04/09/2017 21:10

Grills are full size and very efficient. We have one full size oven with steam function, a combi microwave which is brilliant t and a warming drawer under the combo to balance it all up. Very happy with all of it.

Thank you!

Squeegle · 04/09/2017 21:54

bouncy, did you buy grill pans for them?

PR3GAL · 13/10/2017 04:25

I was also wondering about this slide & hide by Neff I don't know if it's worth the money? I found it interesting that some people here still think German branded appliances are "quality", when most of the components are made in China or Turkey and not many appliances are made in Germany these days. Bosch washing machines are made in Spain and their American style fridge freezers are actually made by Daewoo. And get this, Smegs ( Italian) American style freezers are made by Beko or LG of all people and their retro fridges are by Gorenje (Slovenian) who have also made appliances for Bosch and Panasonic...I could go on. I'd actually like to "buy British" but I don't suppose we make stuff anymore?? My quest continues...

parkview094 · 13/10/2017 08:31

Are you having a high-level oven or an under-worktop oven?
We went for the hide-and-slide to avoid having to lean over a hot door on our high-level ovens.

If it was low-level, I wouldn't bother.

We would have been happy with ovens with 'side opening' doors instead, but couldn't find a left/right pair in stock and at the right price.
