Creating a magical NON-PINK bedroom for DTDs (3)

After extensive consultation with two independently minded little people, we are marking the move into big girl beds (I know, have got away with cots for AGES, yay!) with a bedroom makeover. The theme is sort of enchanted woods in the moonlight. Twin Sleeping Beauties in a mystical forest, but in a Tim Burton version. With unicorns and COOL fairies not naff ones and butterflies and giant bears and a big picture of the moon, and branches with twinkly lights (hurray for discounted Xmas products) and magic toadstools and this wallpaper:

I am really struggling to find suitable bedding though in toddler bed sizes that isn't Disneyfied/pink. And anything blue (which would go with the walls) is obviously covered in trains and spaceships.

Has anyone seen anything? Or am I best just getting white and stitching on some suitably realistic rose petals or summat? But then I will never be able to boil wash...

I may be taking this all far more seriously than they are Wink.

What about spoonflower? If you can sew your own / get someone to make bedding for you?
this?

or this?

I could lose hours on the spoonflower website.

Hobbes8 bloomin' love those toadstool lights! The slight issue with twins though is I always need to double any price...sixty quid on lighting for toddlers? Hmm. I don't really need to eat, do I?!

For those of you who have been on tenterhooks, and I am sure that number is legion, I managed to get these guys to make the fairytale blanket in grey in a junior size:

So then I can just have bog standard white bedding underneath, as otherwise I would have needed 2 x 2 changes...

Have also been chatting to this lovely lady who handpaints signs to make a 'once upon a time' door sign for them. Turns out she has two sets of twins! Serendipity! Well, not for her...

Got some cheap mosquito nets from ebay and am lovingly sticking on fabric rose petals and butterflies. And cheap wooden letters for the fireplace spelling BELIEVE. And am hoping to persuade nursery to give me some of the camouflage type netting they have in their outside play area as can then hang that from the ceiling.

Still a bit stuck on the floor. May just leave it as plain wood as all suitable rugs are about ten squillion pounds.

I am SO enjoying doing this! Brilliant excuse for not doing the work I'm meant to be. Cos am being Creative Mum aren't I Wink.

Oh GOD. Not only are those lights 30% off, but a catalogue has just come through the door with an extra 10% off. I have to buy these now, don't I. Fate dictates it. Arrgh...

As you perused etsy, did you search for red cape? This shop has lovely ones and I bet this UK lady would do a wolf dungaree

SkodaLabia · 25/06/2015 17:50

OrnamentalAsAnything · 25/06/2015 21:39

THIS is what I call wallpaper perfection: www.littlehandsillustration.com/?page_id=2028.

stinkingbishop · 26/06/2015 06:36

Wow. Seriously beautiful. But £45 a square metre is...roughly £450 a roll?!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not even I with my amazing spending justification powers could rationalise that one away!!

YaTalkinToMe · 26/06/2015 12:54

For £450 a roll I would get an artist to create a murals- one by me is £100 a day and they are fantastic!

YaTalkinToMe · 26/06/2015 12:58

Interconnect is what we call the internet chez stinking, sorry!

Shame I thought it was an amazing website to find things cheaper that I had missed Grin

OrnamentalAsAnything · 26/06/2015 13:50

Grin I know, it's not cheap, but I absolutely love it. Oh to be loaded!

Misty9 · 28/06/2015 07:17

Also check out www.Beckyandlolo.com they have some lovely stuff, especially wall mural stickers. We've got the owls in a tree one for toddler dd room, but can't wait to do her room properly.

Misty9 · 28/06/2015 07:18

Oops, must be co.UK ... www.Beckyandlolo.co.uk

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 28/06/2015 21:40

Ooh yes I was going to ask for the Chinese website too please! I've just put a wall of coral pineapples in my DDs room and I need to kitsch it up further so those resin bears would be perfect if you don't mind sharing?
