I have a Miele. It is brilliant and I would never swap it. We have a gas Neff hob at our London flat and it is so much more awkward to clean. My choice would be to have induction and go for the best you can afford. Mine has touch controls, timers, is totally flat and frameless, and has variable pan diameters on 3 of the 4 heating areas. It is quick, clean, effective and looks superb after 4 years.

Induction.

I was the worlds biggest fan of gas until I got my induction and would never EVER go back.
Having to use other people's gas hobs reminds me how much energy is wasted as heat up the sides of the pan

NOTHING is as fast at bringing water to the boil
changing the temperature is INSTANT

and no other hob lets you, when the pasta boils over, pick up the pan,
wipe the hob with a cloth as its not very hot, put the pan back down and carry on

they are also cheaper to run than any other type of hob

6 years in its still wonderful

Gas every time

I used a gas hob for decades, then recently changed to an induction hob. I now much prefer induction even though I had to change virtually all my pans (they were copper bottomed).

I've got this one. www.banyo.co.uk/kitchen-appliances/hobs/neff-hob-induction-black-ceramic-glass.html

I really like the little dial thing.

I love my induction hob. We have a hob kettle and it boils so quickly its just amazing. Its so easy to clean because you take the pan off and the hiob itself isn't hot (just slightly warm) therefore you can wipe it immediately (or mid boil) with a damp cloth.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. Given me much to think about. I am sorely tempted but will need to think carefully about the extra initial outlay. But suspect that it will end up being an 'in for a penny' kind if decision Grin

Induction it's amazing, won't go back. Also much cheaper to run apparently - can't remember the exact stat but think boiling a stovetop kettle on induction is 10% of the cost of doing so with an electric kettle - and so quick.
